Shah Jahan Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Heyo, planning on coming over to LOS from USA in a few weeks and I wanted a Galaxy s6 that I could swap between a USA pre-paid and AIS pre-paid Right now I have a Note3 bought in Thailand that works on T-Mobile (bad service) in the USA, but not Verizon (best service) What I want to know is if I get the Verizon s6 (unlocked) will it work on the Thailand bands? Thanks in advance for your answers
casualbiker Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Check what bands the phone has (usually has them on the box) 3g is 900 & 2100 MHz 4g LTE is non existent on AIS currently! 2g is the standard 900-1800 According to Verizon website it will work presuming it network unlocked.. Will it be unlocked from the network? PS. How much you want for the N3? Edited April 6, 2015 by casualbiker
Shah Jahan Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Well by looking at this chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_frequencies and this chart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_in_Thailand i think the important one is "3g technology" and "4g technology" so by the looks of it, I can have an ATT -> AIS or a Verozin -> True Move im just guessing on this, but I think its right btw... my n3 is a bit beatup and probably not worthy to sell
Langsuan Man Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Anecdotal only I have a Nexus 4 which I use in Thailand with a DTAC prepaid SIM and use in the US with prepaid AT&T SIM

2008bangkok Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Isnt Verizon a CDMA network, therefore the phone will be CDMA and not GSM as they are over here?
casualbiker Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Isnt Verizon a CDMA network, therefore the phone will be CDMA and not GSM as they are over here? Verizon's own website show it as 3g capable on 850/900
Shah Jahan Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 So still no conclusion. - Looks like i can make a safe bet by getting an ATT unlocked ?
casualbiker Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) So still no conclusion. - Looks like i can make a safe bet by getting an ATT unlocked ?What do you mean " no conclusion " Verizon's own website states that the phone HAS the required frequencies to work on 3G here in Thailand using the Thai network of your choice.. Obviously presuming that the phone in question is unlocked from the Verizon network and capable of operating with another networks sim card! http://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-s6/ Edited April 8, 2015 by casualbiker
2008bangkok Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) the specs do say it will work but LTE wont work as according to there website its 700/1700 and LTE here is 2100 but HSPA should be ok Edited April 8, 2015 by 2008bangkok
2008bangkok Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 On a side note isnt it annoying when they say standby time of 312 hrs talk time 20 hrs, my note 3 with lolipop and a bigger battery loses 20% overnight so how that thing going to do 312 hrs

My Motorola Moto G is actually doing A LOT better on Lollipop concerning battery life.. PS: I don't turn everything off. But then I don't have a Samsung!
pmugghc Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Anecdotal only I have a Nexus 4 which I use in Thailand with a DTAC prepaid SIM and use in the US with prepaid AT&T SIM That's OK for 3G, but the N4 doesn't support 4G.
tekmo Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 it will work, any phone model after the S3's will work, even on the verizon network, the phone themselves are region sim unlocked. i've taken my Note 4 Verizon, to bkk and other SEA. it works fine. You just won't get the 4G LTE, but 3G works fine.
