Flash floods and mud slides warning in four eastern and western provinces

BANGKOK: -- People in Kanchanaburi, Trat, Ratchaburi and Chanthaburi were told to brace for possible flash floods and mud slides from Thursday until Friday, according to the National Disaster Warning Centre.

The centre said that it would keep update the situations so the people in the four provinces will be informed and to prepare themselves to cope with the consequences.

Meanwhile, Mr Rangsan Butmuang, chief of the artificial rain-making unit in Phitsanuloke, admitted that the rain-making efforts have not been satisfactory because there have been little rains above the major dams such as Bhumibol and Sirikit.

As for February 1 until June 22, he said that a total of 168 rain-making flights had been carried out and 164 tonnes of chemicals used up. Although there are some times, they are not enough to replenish storage water in dams which have dropped to critical level.

Seasonal rains too are scarce, he said and likened the situation now to that in 1999.

"As for February 1 until June 22, he said that a total of 168 rain-making flights had been carried out and 164 tonnes of chemicals used up."

What was the deputy somebody yesterday that quoted 2,700 plus flights, sounds like this person is closer to the problem. Big difference in numbers between the deputy pm of something or another and the chief of the rain making unit.

Problem is that one official cant keep up with all the lies from other officials so eventually lies will collide ... just take TAT tourist numbers as example ...clap2.gif

I read elsewhere that the rainmaking flights had a 92% success rate, What is this guy talking about. whistling.gif
