There are shuttle busses (http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/122-transfer-bus-between-suvarnabhumi-don-muaeng) that leave BKK and arrive at DMK. The shuttles begin at 0500 and end at 2400.

I've never experienced Bangkok Traffic other than swampy which isn't really Bangkok. Not really sure if I should take a taxi to a hotel near DKM or book a hotel very close to swampy so I can catch around 6 or 7 hours of sleep, take a shower and take the hotel shuttle back to Swampy the next morning and take the BKK to DMK

I wanted to ask you guys what time do I need to leave BKK on the shuttle bus in order to have enough time to catch my 11:05 AM flight departing from DMK?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

Do you get in to BKK before midnight?

One option which is to get the ARL 3 stops to Ramkamhaeng and walk across to the Nasa Vegas Hotel adjoined to the station.

Cheap rooms on Agoda for 500-600 baht-ish

Take the train back to Swampy in the morning and the free shuttley bus over to DMK

Shuttle takes around 50 minutes normally. so get the one at 8 or 8.30 and you'll have plenty time to get on your flight - especially if you have online check in done or no bags to check.

I think I'm just going to book a hotel close to Don Muang. As I wont be getting to bed until about 2AM, I can sleep in a bit, shower, have breakfast and catch a ride to Don Muang without having to rush so much if I were leaving from Swampy.

I have an Air Asia Flight to NST departing DMK at 11:05, then shuttle and ferry service to Lipa Noi, Koh Samui. Shuttle and Ferry service to Koh Samui are all-inclusive within the price of the flight.

Where do I catch a safe taxi to NANA area (Alt Nana Hotel) from Swampy at 0030-0100 hrs in the morning?

Thank you in advance.

They have the taxi stand, but what we do is

They have cheap hotels at Door 4 will take you 5 min to hotel and return to airport in morning free, then free Shuttle run to DM.

Convenience resort for exp. cheap with van to and from with shower etc and can be at DM by 10am easy. You can be in bed by 1am. up and back at swampy just before 8am and at DM by 9am. Just ask for the hotel at that door 4 level 2 I recall and they will radio the van if it is not already there. There are a number of different hotels 600 - 900 baht. free van shuttle. Taxi to nana would cost as much.

Anyway that is how we return to get up country and has always worked fine. You can take an earlier shuttle to DM if you are really concerned about that leg and still have gotten some sleep.

I made a reservation at the Alt Hotel Nana. I also booked one of their cars to pick me up at BKK for 1000baht.

I will fly out of DM the next morning at 11:05.

I appreciate the information. I'm sure someday I will use it.

Cheers

You have booked a car from the hotel for 1000? That's robbery, taxi to nana is 350-400 ish depending on traffic.

I do it many times.

BTW, my flight arrived at around midnight last trip, there must have been 1000-1500 people at îmmigration, and of course( being Thailand) they only had staff for 50 percent of the immigration booths. I got to my hotel at 4 am.

Good luck and I hope you have better luck.

A taxi from outside BKK airport to a hotel at or near Don Muang would have been less than 500. Wake up next morning very close to the airport and your flight.

As stated above many airport hotels with free pick up within a couple of miles of BKK. 600-900 baht. I like the Phoenix Hotel. Back at BKK airport 0730-0800 and maybe an hour on the free shuttle bus to Don Muang.

Personally I would have booked a room at the Sinsuvarn Hotel on Agoda or Hotels.com or similar for around 900 bht or less if well in advance. This would include courtesy mini bus shuttle to the hote, a nice room, free wifi, a good breakfast and shuttle back to swampy for the free 1 hr shuttle bus arriving at DM about 60 - 90 mins before my flight.

I thought about it for a while, and I took your advice. This morning I cancelled my reservation for the Alt Hotel in Nana, as well as the 1000bt car service. I found a hotel on hotels.com for 900 baht with two-way free airport shuttle.

Will return to Swampy at 8 catch the free shuttle to DM.

I really appreciate your advice. Saved at least 1300 baht altogether.

When I come back to Swampy via the hotel's minibus, where do I tell the driver to let me off to catch the BKK-DMK shuttle?

Thanks for all the very helpful information.

Despite me having all the right boxes tickets asking Thaivisa forums to send me email alerts to new posts it never does, I only get a weekly update on a Sunday.

The hotel courtesy van willl usually only make one stop at departures. The free shuttle from Swampy to DMK leaves from floor 2 between doors 2 & 3. The extra security checks at DMK have been rescinded for now.
