September 27, 201510 yr Ey ups chaps, I've had a tokay gecko living outside our house now for a couple of years now, he's a handsome chap and I'd say he's fully grown now. Every night for the past few years when I sit outside having a beer he comes close, sits behind me like we are mates. Last night I had an idea, I put a bit of raw pork on the end of an old length of rebar I had knocking around outside the house and the little bugger bit it off within an instant, chewed it up, swallowed and burped. Tonight I did the same. He now sits only a foot away from me and doesn't seem scared at all. Do you think this wild animal could be tamed????
September 27, 201510 yr I think this animal could be trained, but I'm not too sure about you, be careful the snake doesn't get it!
September 27, 201510 yr Author Not sure what that's supposed to mean vogie, the animal can but I can't? Edited September 27, 201510 yr by KenDidd
September 27, 201510 yr Author By the way, my dog got bit by a snake earlier tonight, on his ear believe it or not. But he seems ok so luckily not the big one.
September 27, 201510 yr Yes you'll be walking it down the soi every night soon on a lead. Who's walking who though? I know where my money would be. Doesnt realise it but the Gecko is training him!
September 27, 201510 yr If it bites your hand and latches on, put your hand (gecko and all) in a bucket of water or the pond. It will release you in it's attempt to breathe.
September 28, 201510 yr Some people do have them as pets but they need to be trained from a young age i believe ( not to bite) I think i saw this on youtube somewhere
September 28, 201510 yr They can give a nasty nip, if your not careful I use to feed one by hand, It only ever came in the house when it was raining.
September 28, 201510 yr Chum of mine used to buy sausages from the 7-11 for his... And soon enough all the youngsters were also coming out to take food
