No human trafficking in fishery industry found in Samut Songkhram

SAMUT SONGKHRAM, 9 November 2015 (NNT) – Human trafficking and illegal fishing activities were not present in Samut Songkhram Province, according to an investigation.


Secretary of the Committee for Human Traffcking and Illegal Fishing Tackling Policy, Maitri Intusut, visited Samut Songkram province along with officials from the relevant agencies to inspect processed aquatic animal plants at coastal provinces including Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi during November to December 2015.

These processing plants must undergo a thorough survey for activities of illegal fishing and human trafficking, in accordance with international standards.

The secretary assured that measures to solve the problems of illegal fishery workers and human trafficking has been going smoothly, stressing the policy of preventing and solving the problem of human trafficking or 5P including protection, prosecution, punishment, prevention, promoting international cooperation and partnership.

According to the report, no human trafficking in the fisheries industry were discovered found in Samut Songkram Province.
