Krung Thai Bank bans its staffers from booking lottery

BANGKOK:-- Staff members of the state-owned Krung Thai Bank are now barred from booking lottery tickets or they will face punitive action for violating the bank’s regulations.

Mr Songphol Chivapreecharote, deputy managing director of the bank, said that the ban was intended to ensure transparency in the distribution of lottery tickets to retailers and to dispel allegations that bank staffers engage in lottery bookings for profiteering purpose.

He said that the bank would check the list of buyers registered with the Government Lottery Office and if it is discovered that bank staffers’ names appear on the list, they will be deleted.

He also urged members of the public who may have information about unscrupulous bank employees demanding kickbacks from buyers to come forward to the bank with the information and evidences.

The ban will take effect for lottery tickets issued for sale after December 3.

Earlier, the bank did not forbid its staffs from booking lottery tickets and it was rumoured that some staff members have booked the tickets for profit making.

Mr Songphol insisted that the bank’s electronic booking system was transparent and bank staffs could not lock into the system before 8.30 am whereas booking normally starts at 8 am.

In the last lottery booking, all the tickets were sold out in just three minutes.

I feel certain that bank staffers names would not appear on the list............but not certain about the managers wives, children etc!

This farcical lottery system is just a licence to print money...... and corruption is inevitable!

Staff will be 'deleted'
