Thais welcome New Year

BANGKOK:-- Thai Buddhists across the country happily welcomed the New Year with thousands, tens of thousands in some provinces, join the ceremony to offer food to monks this morning.

Thousands showed up in Muang district in Khon Kaen to give food to 509 monks and novices.

More than 5,000 joined the merit making in Muang Nakhon Ratchasima.

More than 10,000 gave food to 109 monks in Surat Thani, to mark the auspicious New Year.
