Prayut resolves to visit more rural areas

The expulsion of westerners doesn't come up much.

The preventive measures of such events ( of confrontation ) by Thais is punishment knowledge .

Family persecution . ( a teenagers parents would be blamed)

An elderly woman's son .

A mothers daughter.

These sinister junta operators have made known their mode of application from day one.

But a westerner who may have nil interest in being banned from there , is female young speaks Thai and perhaps streaming live to the world ( possibly a journalist and hardcore educated feminist with a big ego and axe to grid)

Could in fact wound the Junta harshly.

An Australian ABC reporter ( a woman who fits this bill) took him on last year at a press conference .

He subsequently banned local TV from showing it.

But it was played in many western countries.

He really didn't know what to do with an in your face journalist.

I suspect his thugs would arrest her mid sentence and trump up charges like she had a gun .

Or she confesses to wanting to lie about him and is also on drugs charges.

Basically unless your an international journalist beyond reproach it would be twisted , distorted and shot down , banned.

But eventually human rights groups will travel to the country and try and embarrass this guy.

I hope next trip to the states people take issue.

Certainly within Thailand the risks are so high for a citizen to confront him it would take a brave soul willing to die.

That's then likely outcome for anyone who dares.

Who isn't afraid of death you mighty ask?

Well those guys are reportedly in the nation too .

According to Russian intel....maybe they are waiting for a big fish to fry?

But one thing is sure up north he is not going to be as secure as the south.( Bangkok)

There are bound to be one or two psychos with grenades ripped on Chang who hate his guts

No doubt he was watching big bro in China and the actions taken there against a female reporter.

Hard to understand what Wasamon actually intended to say in this report by The Nation.

For example, "The frameworks will consist of general functions as well as reform work to be completed in various lengths – completely done within this government’s term, partly done and prepared as bases for the next government to continue". I think even Sir Humphrey Appleby would have a hard time deciphering this waffle.

The regular English translators and proof readers must be still on holidays.

I also have to be critical of poor and misleading reporting throughout this article. Just one example comes from the quote above - it mentions "this government’s term" as if to imply we have a legitimate democratically-elected body working to a "fixed" duration as defined by law!

On a positive note, I fully support Prayut's resolution to visit rural areas and meet "grass-roots" people. One only hopes it is done in good faith, with the intention of listening to what his fellow Thais have to say.

"The government is attempting to open up two-way communication channels with the people, Maj-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd, government spokesman, said after yesterday's Cabinet meeting."

And this is something that you though of after 20 months in power? I see we are dealing with an astounding intellect here!

now that they've been in control for almost 2 years, these kinds of obvious failures are becoming more and more common.

I mean, if we just took the General at his word, that he took power for the good of Thailand, then wouldn't he have actually done something by now?

Instead, the military looks more and more like it is doing nothing except settling in for the long term... a throwback to the 60s...

To hear first hand from grass roots people !

Will that be carefully selected grass people or does he believe that ordinary people will really speak their mind knowing how criticism is viewed and what can happen to those that do tell it like it is ?

Interesting thought, what would be the immediate reaction and then the follow up if the PM inadvertently met someone who gave him both barrels and with the media in attendance ?

Well, he petulantly stormed out of a press conference when asked how long would it be before an election would be held (this was in May 2014, how naive that reporter must have been!), so if asked about something more contentious (like calendars or boy racers for example) who knows what would happen?
