The incident has sparked accusations of longstanding inefficiency and graft in the Ministry from both the Prime Minister and the opposition party. Prime Minister Hun Sen criticized Minister of Transportation Tram Iv Tek at an annual meeting of the Interior Ministry last week, saying his ministry “seems to not function at all.” He singled out the Ministry of Transportation as the “most inefficient” government ministry, criticizing the slowness of its response to the damage to the bridge.
