Gifts for Red Cross dignitaries visiting Thailand just a con.

BANGKOK:-- A female master swindler who claimed to be working on behalf of an influential 'lady' was nabbed by police in Bangkok Wednesday, reports Thaivisa News.

The trickster is thought to be part of a team who conned a decorative hamper seller in Phrakhanong out of 158,000 baht.

The hampers were supposed to be gifts for an upcoming meeting of foreign dignitaries of the Red Cross.

Police said Kinggarn Soisri, 44, a native of Mahasarakham has admitted to involvement in multiple fraud cases.

Kinggarn , using the assumed name 'Muk' had contacted Nithayaporn Chumkong in February and ordered a number of decorative baskets on behalf of the influential 'Lady Jarungjit." The baskets needed to be extra special she said to impress the foreign visitors with elaborate braid done in a Thai style.

'Muk' said the braid should be ordered through a person called Mrs Prayoon only. Acting in good faith the hamper company owner transferred 158,400 baht to Mrs Prayoon for the silk braid. The braid was not delivered and both 'Muk' and the mythical Mrs Prayoon were not heard from again.

Khanit Mahathaworn of Hua Mark police said that further inquiries revealed that the arrested woman was part of a gang operating out of a hospital in Phitsanulok. They discovered that three accomplices known only as Joy, Muay and Nit aged about 50,30 and 40 respectively were in on the con.

Khanit said that Kinggarn admitted to multiple swindles involving some 2 million baht and that individuals who suspect they may have been taken in by the gang should contact Hua Mark police.

Clever maybe, but hardly a master swindler.

Multiple frauds netting 2 million is hardly that impressive.

{As far as swindling can be considered impressive that is}

Still at least one more con artist off the scene for now, nice one BIB.

using the assumed name 'Muk'

'Where there's Muk there's brass'

She claimed to be working on behalf of an influential lady, is that why her face is blurred out ?

How can businesses be so easily conned?

The braid could only be ordered from 1 lady. Surely they would have checked things out.

Parting with a lot of money on the say so of a lady you do not know is crazy.

Not only businesses but individuals also. A local monk conned my gf out of 15,000 Baht when her mother died. I kept telling her it was a con but to no avail. Parting with a lot of money on the say so of a monk is also crazy.

These people are often under threat to maybe repay a debt....or something.....the influential lady she works for is likely a real situation......

Name this woman......drag her into this rotten deal if it's real and clear your name..............but as is often the case, this girl will take the fall!

Unless, of course, the con artist, swindler is lying in the hope naming someone influential will get her out of trouble...

Look part of a con is to lie your butt off in order to in still trust into person your conning so you gain access to there money. You can make more selling fake golf membership's to the elite's here with promise of VIP treatment at well known golf courses. Oh wait sorry the Russian's are doing that one already Well could do the one where you pose as a rich king from Africa with vast oil fields looking investors with promise of huge returns on money invested in project to develop the oil fields. Dang sorry again the Nigerian's are doing that one. Well you get the picture right?

At least she was arrested and not "nabbed".

Thailand's market regulator said on Wednesday it had fined executives at several firms for insider trading amid unprecedented pressure from international and Thai investors for corporate governance reforms.

No pressure no fines. The old Sgt Schultz trick.

...why flatter the scum.....

...a liar...a cheat...a thief.......

...the worse .......or more despicable .....or audacious the crime.......... does not make someone a master.....

....that is of the mentality....... 'If you can lie to and trick someone..... it makes you smart'

...primitive....savage...barbaric.....and completely immoral...hardly a master anything....

I'd say the reward given to BIB by BIB for catching Erawan suspect much better swindle. But that is just my opinion.

Plenty more to take her place in LOS "Land of Scams"

Not a bad swindle.

I agree with others that the title Master Swindler is a bit generous.

These things always fascinate me. Here in LOS, there is a lot of graft, facilitation payments, and shenanigans with land title deeds and properties, but for entertainment sake this one is pretty good. The Red Cross bit is a nice addition - it is not a New Year purpose so it might not get noticed as a one off kind of expense. Also, difficult to push the price of a hamper up to 175,000 Baht without a special ribbon made of gold or something.

I have always thought the easiest scams here would be with the very wealthy who have accountants or staff handling their affairs, as is the case here. If the person getting conned is too afraid or embarrassed to tell their boss, even better.

Isn't she a mistress swindler? Or is P.C. refusing to play ball?

Wonder why she is so special to have her face blurred out?

And I thought such positions are reserved for Pinnoys? facepalm.gif
