gandalf12
The last time I enquired about Japanese Encephalitis vaccination it had been out of stock in OZ for some years , apparently it is hard and involved to make, nobody seemed to worry about me going into an infected area ( Indonesia ) without a current vaccination , this was work related not tourist related. I wish the family well , not many tourists know about this mosquito disease, but its out there , another thing Thailand doesn't tell you about. I was advised to have the vaccination when I went to work in Vietnam and Papua New Guinea

orchidlady
When I got my first medical for work permit at hospital at Victory monument, I used the travel clinic. The Dr also reviewed all my vaccines and suggested JE vaccine which I did get.
geriatrickid
I have had 2 stays in 2 different private hospitals. 1 in Pattaya, 1 in Buriram. First class service/ treatment from both. I was not overcharged by either hospital. LOL. Do you know the difference?
arithai12
In Chiang Mai, Nakorn Ping public hospital (near Pantip Plaza) carries a lot of vaccinations. I got my yellow fever vaccine there, no hassle, on the spot, 700B. I don't know about JE but if you need it that's probably where you should look. Do you mean wrt to the cost in a Thai public hospital? Yes, of course there is a big cost difference - and a big quality difference. But if you compare the cost of a private hospital in Thailand with the cost of a private hospital in, say, Germany, then the Thai hospital offers similar quality for a fraction of the price. How else would you explain that lots of foreigners come to Thailand for specialistic treatment? For those used to good free public health, like say in Scandinavia, well don't forget how much taxes you pay.

I hope you were also given an internationally recognised Yellow Fever Vaccine certificate Most vaccines of importance, including JE can be obtained from the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. http://www.thaitravelclinic.com/cost.html
DogNo1
I've often been overcharged at a private hospital in Bangkok but I keep going back because of the short waiting times and the quality of my doctors. When possible I buy my drugs at an outside pharmacy. The care is not perfect but it's pretty good.
johnatong
Unless you are planning to live/stay next too or near pig farms the JE vaccination is not needed. Not a good idea to post inaccurate info. Thailand - Japanese Encephalitis overview https://www.iamat.org/country/thailand/risk/japanese-encephalitis Please detail the number of cases of JE which arise in major tourist destinations and the relative risk of contracting the disease in those areas. From your link " Recommended for persons travelling extensively in rural areas, long term travellers, and persons on working assignments in endemic areas. " How many people fall into these categories? Are you trying to say ALL who visit Thailand should receive JE vaccination ? I posted nothing which was "inaccurate". Nothing to dispute, according to the medical advisory your comment is inaccurate.
