Charge against Sonthi dropped

BANGKOK: -- The attorney general has decided not to prosecute media tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul and Kom Chad Luek newspapers over a lese majesty charge.

Atthapol Yaisawang, the spokesman of the Office of the Attorney General, said the attorney general decided to drop the charge for the sake of reconciliation for the society.

Sondhi was accused of making a comment deemed insulting His Majesty the King during the height of his campaigns against then prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. His comment was published in Kom Chad Luek.

Kom Chad Luek is published by Nation Multimedia Group, which also publishes The Nation.
