Belgium gives everyone radiation protection pills

606x341_331328.jpg

BRUSSELS: -- Belgium is to supply iodine pills to all its 11 million inhabitants to help protect against radioactivity in the event of a nuclear accident.

Iodine helps reduce radiation build-up in the thyroid gland.

Previously the country only gave pills to people living near to its seven reactors over three sites at Doel, Tihange and Mol.

“Before the iodine pills were only given to people living within a perimeter of twenty kilometres”, said Belgian Health Minister Maggie De Block. “Now we are going to take measures for people up to 100 kilometres. We’ll provide iodine pills for the whole country.”

The government says the new measures take into account reactors in neighbouring countries close to the Belgian border.

Earlier this month Belgium refused a German request to close down two of its oldest reactors temporarily because of defects found in their pressure vessels.

Belgium always was a bit of a reject buffer zone between European powers, not important enough to fight for, but too delicate to give up.

If anyone had wanted the kingdom of Belgium, the country wouldn't exist, it would be part of a more viable state or empire.

It reminds one of certain South East Asian Kingdoms which suffered similar rejection and suffer similar consequences of dysfunctional statehood

If it has come this far with muslim radicals out to destroy peace, values and cultures in Europe where we have to take pills against possible nuclear attack,

it is time to take much harsher stands on muslim immigration in Europe.

To regain our culture we will have to at least close the borders and re-educate the PC weaklings.

Internally put an operation "clean sweep" into work and deport all questionable cases.

We want our peace back.

I'm sorry but the hardship for you storing a radiation pill is a small price to pay to live in a "culturally enriched" country. Think of all the benefits you have received since mass muslim immigration started happening. Safer cities after dark, freedom for women to travel inner city areas after dark, cheap goods produced by factories rammed to the gills with skilled and dedicated muslim laborers. Is that about right?

Considering they caught people trying to illegally sell plutonium in Croatia recently. Its only a matter of time before we see a 'dirty' bomb set off in Europe. Its not surprising we aren't being told this as it would cause panic, hence the cover story of nuclear reactors.

Most RDDs - dirty bomb - would not release enough radiation to kill people or cause severe illness - the conventional explosive itself would be more harmful to individuals than the radioactive material.

Depending on the situation, an RDD explosion could create fear and panic, contaminate property, and require potentially costly cleanup. Making prompt, accurate information available to the public may prevent the panic sought by terrorists.

Belgian health ministery decided since the building of the nuclear power facilities in Belgium to supply within 20kms of radius iodium pills for all citizens.

With the latest shutdown of one of the oldest reactors and the unfamous anniversary of the Tchernobyl nuclear disaster, the Belgian government advised to its population to have iodium pills for all citizens living within 100 kms of the nuclear power facilities.

Nothing to do with supposedly any future ISIS attack...

timing is everything, reading between the lines they have the radioactive material already and kaboom is imminent. of course they cant admit that otherwise there will be an unholy panic and a Colognesque adverse reaction towards the chosen ones.

Belgium plans to reopen two centrals which are old and in one there was an explosion 15 days ago. Netherland and France are complaigning and started a campaign againt this reopening. I think isis is not the main problem here but just a government who prefer the risk of an accident rather than prevention

I'm not a Belgium specialist as you call it, but the power regulators were tripping a few weeks ago at Doel 1, which resulted in a shutdown.

The plant was re-commissioned 2 weeks ago.

I suppose I don't need to tell you from Thailand to get your iodium tablets...

20 to 30km of a nuclear issuing iodine tablets is in standard civil protection plan, having living approximately 20km from a 1900MW plant for many years having these tablets in the cupboard was normal practice

Sounds like good advice for the Belgium people, get your iodine pills now,

just in case one of the old reactors up wind decides to go boom. If it is a dirty

bomb from the nice ISIL factions that are still running around in the country,

oh well at least you are now going to be protected from that threat as well.

Culturally enriched, is that a bit like the multi cultured, or another failed

programs?, I get confused in my getting older age.

Geezer

Ok that is a relief to know that it is all because a fuse tripped. I will admit to thinking that it was all to do with the most shocking statistic i have ever seen. that being that 90% of Belgian born muslim teenagers consider the muslim terrorists Abdeslam and co as "heros". The inference being that there are millions of loons acting day and night to end classical civilization in N Europe - a nuke being a great way to achieve their sick goals, and leading to this story about radiation pills.

An explosion is a term, it does not always involve all the time fatalities, and it is not necessary a big one. You know car use "explision engine" right?

So you may be an expert living close to the plants but for sure you re not an expert in word definition
