lookforzeros
Hi, I've been wondering if there is a library in Pattaya where people can study, read etc? I read about a library off Thepprasit Road which is closed now, and found a thread about one on Soi 6 of all places - which must have been a wind up. Is there one? If not, do students here just stay in their rooms or what? Thanks in advance!
OMGImInPattaya
No there actually is a small government library on soi 6...I think to encourage the girls to learn to read. As to others, don't know of any nearby. The Thai universities would have them but there are none right in town. The Nelson Hays Library in Bangkok is a gem but it's in Bangkok. Best to find a cafe or hotel lobby you like and make it your "library." Either that, or a comfortable beach chair. ?

wanderluster
there is or was a library in jomtien at the exercise complex.. a couple short blocks behind the wat boon market.. have not been in it in quite awhile though, so not 100% sure if still open.. they also used to have a mobile van that they drove around in. i would like to assume that they were going to the schools
BWPattaya
Try the North Star Library on Sukhumvit. Near the ophanage and Redemptorist school. Good selection on various topics and novels
chingching
There is a library, besides the one on Soi 6, much bigger, than the soi 6 one, 2 stories, but not much on 2nd floor, but I can't remember where it is. It's outside of town a bit, next to a softball field. Run by the government. I got a library card from them.
taichiplanet
there used to be one in Naklua, i think in the grounds of Wat Pho Samphan on corner of Naklua Rd and Soi 16 marked on google map (actually shown on map with an open book!) https://www.google.co.th/maps/place/%E0%B8%AB%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B0%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%89%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B5/@12.9610226,100.8953201,18z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0000000000000000:0x15153eb426066c97!8m2!3d12.9614999!4d100.8947475 Edited June 11, 2016 by taichiplanet
Enoon
Thanks, I'll take a look at that one on Soi 6 and see if I can find a nice cafe. I joined this while I was in Pattaya. Keesters
The best library is the one way out of town at the sports complex on what some may call Jomtien 3rd road. So far out of town and off any bus route that not many ever visit it. Great city planning. The only way to get there is on/in your own transport. That is not a problem as many 8-14 year olds do drive the family car or motorbike.
jacko45k
The one mentioned above on Sukhumvit, Northstar is the best one I can think of. I believe they also operate Thai language classes. Can't find anywhere 'quiet' in Thailand?
