Work permit was granted at last place I worked at. I left that employer. The Thai person in charge of work permits for the English employees promised no less than 6 times to notify the department of labor that I am no longer working there (everytime I called to remind them). However, this has not been done MONTHS later.

My new employer is trying to get the new work permit and has not been able to do so - claiming that the old place needs to cancel the other one first!

The school was able to get me another non-immigrant b visa based on the paperwork that we're filing FOR the work permit - but, no work permit.

Well, how long am I supposed to stay in limbo? I cannot work without it - yes? Can I work while we're trying to get it? Any good advice?

Thanks for any help

Go to your old job, get the Work Permit and hand it in yourself.

If they have lost the WP, then go to the police and tell them it's lost - you have to pay a 1000 baht fine, but that'll be the end of it.

Old job is 1400 km away - not an easy thing to do.

The thing is that it is now late and whoever hands it in will be fined. Maybe your DoS can call your old DoS and try to sort it out.

I'm not sure you can report it lost in a differenc province.

Maybe you can speak to Sunbelt, they have branches all over LOS - perhaps they can arrange for someone to pick it up and hand it in.

Where did you move from/to? (just being nosey!)
