A huge drug haul seized at a resort in Surat Thani

THAILAND:-- The anti-narcotic police on Tuesday announced the seizure of 22 million baht worth of methamphetamine or ya baa and the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers in Surat Thani province.

The two suspects, 46-year old Tinnakorn Kulya and 38-year old Krisda Rodcharoenphan, were presented to the media together with about 920,000 tablents of ya bann in 450 packs at the office of the anti-narcotic police.

Deputy commissioner of anti-narcotic police Pol Maj-Gen Supakit Srichantharanont said police had been tracking the duo since they and their accomplices had smuggled the drug from Myanmar via the Mekong river through Laos and into Nakhon Phanom and bound for Hat Yai.

Police first arrested Krisda at a checkpoint in Surat Thani who eventually led police to a resort in the province where Tinnakorn was hiding with the drug haul.

Police said the drug shipment was meant to be destined to the three southernmost provinces.
