Security agencies crackdown on illegal activities prior to referendum

THAILAND, 2 August 2016 (NNT) - The Election Commission (EC) is going door-to-door to encourage the public to participate in the upcoming referendum on August 7th, while security agencies are cracking down on all forms of illegal activities. 

Director of the Provincial EC Office of Uthai Thani Pol Lt Gen Kenika Sanongnart led a group of Karen volunteers to encourage voting by the local Karen population in Thong Lang subdistrict in Huai Khot district, giving instructions on the voting process. 

Meanwhile, Governor of Mae Hong Son province Pipat Aekpaphand has instructed 250 security officials to crackdown on any violations to the 2016 Public Referendum Act. 

Commissioner of the Satun Provincial Police Pol Maj Gen Thatthongsak Phuphanthachasi also instructed 150 security officials to crackdown on any illegal activities, urging officials to conduct thoroughly monitor their jurisdictions and collaborate with related agencies.
