BANGKOK:-- "Lady Kai" - otherwise known as Monta Yokratanakan - has been accused of yet more crimes. Police have now added assault to the long list of alleged frauds committed by the 56 year old Bangkok woman who is currently held in custody.

Yesterday a former education department civil servant who had many dealings with Lady Kai over the years conducting land deals and property sales went to Prachcheun police.

Yatdapha Laksanai, 73,  claimed that she was conned of 800,000 baht over the sale of a convenience store in the Prachaniwet area. When she went to Lady Kai's house to complain about it she was assaulted, she said.

Yatdapha was with Prachacheun police investigators for five hours yesterday telling them about her dealings with the woman now in jail for making malicious claims. She also faces charges of lese majeste.

She alleged that they had bought and sold property for millions of baht and that Lady Kai wrote cheques that bounced.

Yatdapha is a key witness in many other charges laid against her former colleague including the article 112 charge that relates to her pretending to be an influential person - Monta could face 15 years in jail if that is proven.

She will be giving further evidence in other cases at the CSD headquarters today.

Police commented that their star witness needs to have more solid evidence in the shape of documents stating days, dates and locations of alleged crimes to help them prosecute the case.

The case was blown wide open some two months ago when a 19 year old girl, whose family had suffered false claims of theft from Lady Kai who had previously employed them, approached a human rights lawyer and got the ball rolling.

Since then many people have come forward both in Bangkok and up country to claim they have been victims of fraud at the hands of Monta.

Sounds like she was on on a lot of this Kai person's cons and only got upset when she didn't get her cut.

Still lots of talk and little action.  The police are "investigating"  and "building a case" but in fact as is normal here once the interest dies down it will all get settled with money and on it goes.

Human trafficking, six months in jail.

Fraud, six months in jail.

Pretending to be an influential person, 15 years.

Next case.

Exactly, it's her disrespect for or her  manipulation of the this social fabric that is her key offense.

No word yet of any co-accused,   what happened to all those influential people including senior BiB who were supposedly linked to her   ?

Yes some senior cops were moved so is that to be an end to it,     as I understand it people went to prison on the strength of her allegation and the supposed police   '  investigation  '   and that shouldn't be allowed to just disappear.   She might not have been so successful,  until now anyway,   if she hadn't been helped.
