British man pleads guilty in Trump attack case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Latest on criminal charges in a U.S. court against a British man stemming from an incident in which he grabbed a police officer's gun with a plan to shoot Donald Trump in Las Vegas.

A British man has pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from an incident in which he grabbed a police officer's gun with a plan to shoot Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Las Vegas.

Michael Steven Sandford could face about two years in a U.S. prison and be deported for his pleas Tuesday to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and disrupting an official function.

The 20-year-old Sandford could have faced up to 20 years in prison if he'd been convicted at trial of both charges.

Court documents say Sandford acknowledged reaching for the gun while Trump was on stage June 18 at a Las Vegas Strip hotel-casino.

Sandford didn't get the gun before he was arrested, and no shots were fired.

The documents say Sandford later told a federal agent that he drove from California to Las Vegas with a plan to kill Trump.

Family attorney Saimo Chahal says Sandford was delusional at the time.

The last thing we need is to make Trump a martyr. Sarah Palin would get elected. Her first bill submitted to congress would allow the extermination of all wildlife from helicopters with military-grade assault rifles. Yahoo.

Absolutely ridiculous post.

I just love it when Brits enter into the American political conversation and seemingly know all the wrongs about it.  I often ask how is the UK's political system going because I don't have a clue, well I've read a lot, about it :coffee1:

Kind of feed up with ____ing yanks interfering in our politics as if the UK is a 50 something state...

It is not just America that will suffer if that buffoon is elected president...

Unbelievable.  Talk about "interference"!  Did some ___ing yank enter the UK illegally and try & assassinate a British political candidate?

the Brit will get off,

as he's a hero for the Clinton/Obama cause for 2 reasons:

  • Elimination of her nemesis
  • further the cause for the Elimination of gun ownership

he is a hero for the Clinton/Obama cause because he failed to accomplish any of the above reasons???

Last I checked Trump was alive.

Would that be a reference to Nigel Farage, ex-leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, who was invited by Trump to speak at one of Trump's rallies?

I just love it when the Americans enter into  the UK political conversation to tell Brits how to vote as did Barack Obama on  Brexit.

Believe he prefaced his comments with, "It's a matter for the British voters to decide", and then gave his long and winding opinion.  At least in the clip I watched on Youtube a few moments ago.
