PM's Office details mourning process

BANGKOK, 17 October 2016 (NNT) – The Office of the Prime Minister has announced details for public mourning functions for the late His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.

Leading up to the funeral ceremony, citizens will be allowed to pay homage before an image of His Majesty at Sahathai Samakom Pavilion in the Grand Palace every day from 8:30AM to 4PM. A condolence book is available at the location for signing.

Members of the public will be allowed to pay their respects to the body of the late monarch at Dusit Throne Hall for a total 15 days from 9AM to 4PM starting from October 28, after funeral prayers are completed.

Private organizations and individuals are also invited to volunteer to host funeral proceedings once royal functions have concluded in 50 days.

Each province of the nation has also set up a place of mourning at its provincial hall while each Bangkok district has set up its own area.

The Office of the Prime Minister has also invited groups that want to contribute food and drink to those mourning at Sanam Luang to contact it via the government hotline 1111.
