Train travel on southern line available for mourners of HM the late King

SONGKHLA, 29 October 2016 (NNT) – Train services on the southern line operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) are now running with more carriages to shuttle more passengers to Bangkok to mourn His Majesty the late King.

The Southern Region Center of the State Railway of Thailand's director Banharn Kobayang said today two additional carriages have been provided to the Bangkok - Su-Ngai Kolok route free of charge on the SRT's southern line.

More carriages will shortly be added to rapid and express trains on the southern route while unused carriages are now being refurbished to be added to scheduled train services to maximize the capacity.

Passengers who wish to travel to and from Bangkok on the southern line, especially in first class and second class sleepers on weekends, are now advised to obtain their tickets at least two days prior to the travel dates, while free tickets are distributed daily.

The general public can now pay homage before the royal urn of the late monarch in Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall inside the Grand Place, with permission granted by the Bureau of the Royal Household from 29th October.
