Flooding in Nakhon Si Thammarat claims one life

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 2 December 2016 - Heavy rains that spurred flooding in 3 districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat have resulted in dangerous conditions in the province and have already claimed one life.

Residents of Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Cha-Uad, Chulaporn and Thung Song districts have indicated they are being severely affected by heavy rains recently. A 5 year old boy in Chulaporn district was killed after falling into a flooded canal. Inundation has also cut off many bridges in the province, leaving some communities isolated.

Several schools in the province have had to indefinitely shutdown until the flooding subsides and have requested military assistance. Residents have also requested help in moving their belongings to higher ground.

The Meteorological Department has warned that a low pressure front will move in over the Thai south between now and December 5. The system will kick up waves in the Gulf of Thailand and spur heavy rains that may pose a danger to the public.

Stay safe everyone.

I think it's been bad up and down the east side of the peninsula. A friend in Sawi Chumpon told it's been really bad near him. Very large rain drops too. Another wet day tomorrow looking at the radar on BBC.

My Thai girl friend showed me pictures of her mother's house today.  Must have been three feet of water at her house. Good thing they have a second storey to live in. Had to move every thing up stairs. It not the first time. Seems happen every year and seem use to it.
