How do you sign up for iTunes account without credit . debit card ?

Hi

 

i tried to sign up for an iTunes account and it demanded a credit/debit card ,

 

is there a way around this ,  All I really wanted was the free podcasts ,

 

Google play did not need a card ,

 

Any ideas ?

Proceed through the procedure and when it comes to payment method, click 'none' at the bottom.

 

Theres plenty of info on Google - sometimes the layout changes.

There is  a guide here from Apple https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204034 on how to sign up without a payment method.

 

I had the same issue a few years back when I signed up and didn't want to add my CC.

Had an account for years with my debit card no problem.  Then I got a new card after the old one expired and suddenly it was a problem.  A big one with no way to fix it. By by Apple,  hello android who were happy to accept my card.

I went through this for a friend a couple weeks ago. Even to the extent of getting an itunes gift card in the states, I happened to be there, and bringing the gift card back to Thailand. I got the impression that would work. But it did not.  

 

I did not find a way around this problem.

I wonder if a gift card  sold in the USA is  only good in the country issued ?

 

This is one reason I stopped using most apple products , they know they have got you cornered ,

and its their way or go home .......

 

You also get into a problem on google play store getting items that are "Free" for a limited time ,

Google opinion rewards , pays you for answering a survey , and the money is in your "Google account"

once you have a few cents in that account it allows you to "buy" free stuff :)
