BANGKOK: -- A northern Thai man from Nan has made a third desperate appeal to the prime minister in two years after getting no resolution to a grievance with the government over land.

This time Chalerm Sornnonthee, 44, climbed on top of a bank and started throwing "ping pong bombs" into a government compound yesterday, reports Daily News.

Civil servants who gathered to watch his demonstration scattered in terror.

As police tried to calm the situation and talk him down he unfurled a banner in Thai that said:

"I have hope and faith in you Prime Minister. I want justice".

Reporters understand his complaints are over a land dispute in Nan province. In June 2015 he did a similar stunt on top of a police building and appealed to the prime minister for action then.

Then in October of last year he covered himself in liquid gas and threated to set himself alight if he did not get action on his complaint.

BANGKOK: -- A 44-year-old man who claimed to be a small contractor from Nan province managed to slip into Government House to file complaint with the prime minister.

The man identified later as Chalermkiat Sonnontee was said to hold a ping pong bomb and threatened security guards to keep off as he climbed over fence to the rooftop of the main building which serves as the directorate of the Government House.

The man carried a fabric poster which reads he wanted to seek justice from the prime minister.

Security officials shouted for him to climb down for his safety, but he didn’t listen and shower a round object in his hand which was later said to be a ping pong bomb.

The man claimed it was his third time to come to Government House to lodge complaint after he was unfairly treated by local authorities in a bidding for a project.

He claimed he was discouraged from the bidding and said the bid winner is those who have close connection with local authorities.

He needs to learn to suck it up like everyone else. Part of Thailand's culture is nepotism and cronyism and it starts from the top within the military and civil service through to local authorities.

Therefore it is hardly likely he will get any support from the PM.

unfortunately for him being Thai and dealing with officials had it's drawbacks, he should know this ... he could have been shot.

I wish him well but the 6x2 cell land is his prospect.

In many many countries he'd have probably been shot; especially at this moment in time with all what's going on. Fair do's to the RTP for not resorting to extreme force.
