webfact
Govt stakes legacy on 4.0 By NOPHAKHUN LIMSAMARNPHUN THE NATION PM’s Office Minister Suvit Maesincee PM’S OFFICE MINISTER UNVEILS AMBITIOUS PLATFORM OF ECONOMIC, POLITICAL GOALS BUT EDUCATION NOT KEY PART OF STATED AGENDA BANGKOK: -- WHILE the government says the Thailand 4.0 national development blueprint will form an integral part of ongoing national reconciliation and reform efforts that aim to reshape the country over the next 20 years, according the PM’s Office, but many sectors – notably education – do not appear to be keeping pace. Thailand 4.0 has been detailed in multiple facets, with the education element of the policy meant to focus on digital literacy and innovation based on a new stage of scientific development. However, most students appear to be stuck in the outdated era of 1.2, and the most common way for them to learn is through Internet searches. candide
China has its “Made in China 2025” vision, while South Korea’s vision is the “Creative Korean Economy”. And with this government, Thailand has "1950's style modernity"!
z42
Lets be fair their only real legacy will be whitewashing (Rajabhakdi park, Hawaiigate et al), Inability to rein in the monkhood, unprecedented road death levels, attitude adjustment sessions, and general repression of the population at the expense of any real noticeable development on a national level. mtls2005
No, they can create whatever "legacy" they want. If Thailand 4.0 - the great leap forward? - doesn't work, they can just create a new info-graphic. That's the beauty of having unlimited power. canuckamuck
Anyone else at a loss to comprehend this 4.0 thing? Did they just pull that out of some dark place, or have they been following a pattern of perceived upgrades. For example when was 3.0 or 2.0? Was 1.0 when they changed the name from Siam? With all the coups and interrupted governments, surely they are on to Thailand 22.4 by now.
bobbymack
Exactly. When was Thailand 1,2 and 3? Do they think they are Microsoft Windows or some other software? What a bunch of comedians.

You are obviously not a produce of the Thai education system otherwise you would find this complicated maths understandable.

How dare you to be in doubt this is the best recipe to achieve critical thinking and creativity.
canuckamuck
I suppose it wouldn't do to have a great leap forward from 1.0 and just call it 2.0. Leaping to number 4.0 makes perfect sense to me now.
