Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I want to get a tourist visa for 60/90 days (not sure if there is a 90 day tourist visa?)

Whats the best consulate/embassy to obtain this from close to Thailand?

Can it be done in a day i.e. fly in and out in the one day, or is a nights stay required?

Thanks,

Stephen

You can get a single entry tourist visa that will allow a 60 day entry that can be extended at a immigration office for a fee of 190o baht.

You apply the moring of one day and pick up your passport the next afternoon at most nearby locations. None do it the same day.

Vientiane Laos or Penang Malaysia are the best locations to get one at this time.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Does that mean i get stamped into the country for 60 days, or is it a 30 day stamp and go to immigration and receive a further 30 days?

A tourist visa allows a 60 day entry and that is what you get stamped into the country for. You then can get a 30 day extension of that 60 days.

Hi Ubonjoe.. just a question ? i just read your post here .. so if i come on a normal 30day travel visa for thailand..from Australia... is it automatically 60days ... or do you have to go to Immigration office to extend eg 30day to 60days .  i only need to stay about an extra 15 days or so ...

It seems you are asking about 30 day visa exempt entry that you get if you don't have a tourist visa issued by an embassy or consulate. The 30 days is all you get on entry and have to apply for a 30 day extension to get a total stay of 60 days.

A tourist visa issued by an embassy or consulate allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days.

thanks Ubon. so if i want to stay longer than 30days .. standard tourist visa .. i have to apply in Aust for 60days etc.. i cant do in Thailand ?

What you get on entry is not a tourist visa. It is a 30 day visa exempt entry that  you can extend for 30 days  at a immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

A tourist visa is only issued at a Thai embassy or consulate and allows a 60 day entry.
