Border run Nong Khai

Featured Replies

Quick advise please friend has Non O multi entry needs to do border run Nong Khai. He knows what paper work is needed ect, just wants advise. Can he just leave Thailand Enter Lao and turn around and come straight back in. Or is there some time limit he has to be out for?

Also the way it works there  going over the bridge, are there buses does he need to go all the way over? Thanks he will be going Wednesday.

Yes there is a bus that will take him over the bridge.

He must enter Laos, but he can immediately turn around, exit Laos, and re-enter Thailand.

Walking is not even allowed.

Bus was 20 Baht or so (in 2011).

Thanks so this is his list  of stuff  he says he needs passport and that's it.

Already has loa visa in passport got it today from kk consulate (1600bht there says they charge extra 100 bht for doing it there).

Is there anything else he needs. Oh and he's got entry and exit slip things for loan and Thailand  (tm6)

Interestingly enough, although I have never seen anyone do it, some sources say walking across the bridge is allowed. I have it in mind to try if ever there with time to spare in good weather.

Take pictures

Of course I would love it but what I remember is that it is not allowed.

He needs a photo and cash for the Lao visa on arrival. He cannot get around that. It is cheaper if he has US$.

A recurring question is "can I leave Thailand, and immediately turn around and come back without entering the neighboring country". The answer is no.

A cropped picture taken from the Lao side of the bridge on Oct 9, 2011.

No bicycles, no motorbikes, no pedestrians.
