BANGKOK: -- The Drugs Suppression agency has announced the results of their combined efforts with local police and soldiers to rid local communities nationwide of the scourge of drugs.

The campaign is called: "1386 All over Thailand - protecting people from drugs".

In operation since the start of February the campaign has more than 700 officers contributing to the arrest of dealers and users in

housing estates and communities in 20 provinces including Bangkok reported Sanook.

Some 181 cases have been cleared up with 85 dealers and 96 users arrested, reported sanook.com. Also taken into evidence were more than 50,000 Ya Ba pills, ice, heroin, ganja and krathom leaves. Some 1.2 million baht of drug money was seized.

Sanook said that users were being treated rather than punished according to the government's new "Drug users are sick people" strategy.
