3 days overstay. renew visa at immigration? or border run?

Featured Replies

hey all.

My multi entry visa allows me to extend at immigration of do a border run.

I forgot my days and just realized I am overstayed 2 days.

I can leave the country. Or go to immigration to get an extension and pay the 3 days fine.

I am wondering if going to immigration is cause for concern in this case?

My thinking was that upon leaving the country, the attitude might be more lenient, than when keeping around inside after 3 days of overstay.

any idea / precedents / advice?

Added question: Assuming I am leaving. is there a difference between leaving tomorrow or a few more days overstay. Assuming of course I am not arrested in those few days.....

thanks a million.

As long as you qualify for an extension of stay, and pay the overstay fine, you should still be able to go to your local immigration office and get the extension.

The fine grows by 500 baht per day. Other than that, and the increased chances of arrest, prosecution, deportation and a ban, there's no difference in overstaying a few more days.

Was in the same spot. Overstayed one day.

Went to CW in Bangkok, got an overstay stamp but didn't have to pay for 1 day. Wish it was the other day around.

5 mins later I had my extension stamped in and was on my way.

I was midway through a judicial process. I was taking my shipper to Court. At the previous hearing the judge had issued an arrest warrant to capture the shipper (Criminal Defendant). I went to Immigration (now 3 days over), to extend my Visa, in order to complete the judicial process, but it was refused and I was deported at my own expense, after 30 days in detention. (NOT PLEASANT).

Thai Law says. Either contestant involved in Royal Thai Criminal Court proceedings is entitled to visa extension/exemption in order to complete judicial process. It is now known that there was a corrupt conspiracy behind the shipper involving bent cops/Customs. Hence deporting me was perverting the course of justice and protecting the criminal and the corrupt.

I want someone to reply to me and say. 'I've got precisely the right lawyer for you!' THE CASE IS INCONTROVERTIBLE! Corrupt officials broke Thai Law.

Help and advice is much appreciated.

To the OP. I don't understand when you say report to Imm' or do a border run. If it's a multi you can only do border runs, air/land.

If it's an extension you can do 90 day reports at Imm' or leave and return with a re-entry permit bought from Imm'.  1000 baht single,  3800 baht multi re-entry.

Not true.  If he has a multi entry visa due to marriage to a Thai, he can either leave the country and get a new 90 days on re-entry or go to immigration and apply for a 60 day extension to "visit his Thai family"!

Yes but still has to a border run after that 60 days.

For a number of reasons I just did a 30 day extension at CW today.

I was on 7 days overstay and got a 30 day extension until 30 March.

No problem . I simply paid the 7 day overstay free first and then paid the normal 1900 Baht fee for a 30 day extension.

Total of 500 baht per day for 7 day overstay and 1900 baht for a 30 day extension......total was 5400 baht.

No problem from CW, they just took the money.

that was all they really wanted.

Perhaps the fact that I arrived in a wheelchair wiht my arm in a cast made them a little more friendly towards me.

I will be one day over when i leave on 31st March. If I do 90 day report for the 30th March then I am ok surely. But what if I just skip it and hope for the best? Thought its just too much bother, but will I get hit with 500 baht fine (x2) by us leaving the next day at 23:45?

What do you mean by a 90 day report? A report of staying longer than 90 days in the country at immigration? Or leaving to get a new 90 day entry from your visa?

You would not be fined on departure from the country for not doing a 90 day report to immigration.

If your 90 day permit to stay is ending you could get fined 500 baht unless leaving from either airport in Bangkok where they don't fine people for a 1 day overstay.

Eventually, I went to immigration and did the extension.

It was all smooth except a few more forms and passport copies. And a couple of fines.

I noticed that I stupidly signed a few forms without reading them. and they seem to plan to fill my details after I sign....

Could have signed me on killing a few folks or transferring my property lol

Anyway, i guess there is little risk of such shenanigans. But will not repeat such signings again, of course....

Thanks for answers. have a good night folks
