Where do I go to get the translation of the required paperwork for marriage .  Is a Notary sufficient  ?

Which papers? The ones needed for marriage in Thailand or the ones needed for marriage back home? Requirements differ!

If you are wanting to get married here you have to do affirmation of permit to marry at your embassy, have it translated to Thai and the translation certified by the department of consular affairs in Bangkok.

A translation for official use has to be done by a certified translator and then certified by department of consular affairs,

a key point is 'certified translator'; not just anyone; in my case, many years ago, i went to a 'full service' international agency in chiang mai, star visa, and they arranged all forms and the translation; we gave them the thai marriage document and they handled everything else including the forms that the USA consulate next door needed (to recognize the marriage in the usa); after all that then we secured a 'fiance visa' from the hong kong usa embassy and then went to the usa for years; note if you go for the spouse support visa here, you will need documentation that you are married here

As noted your OP does not detail exactly what you want.

 

As for last post about "forms that the USA Consulate next door needed (to recognize the marriage in the USA)" am not aware of anything required as a Thai marriage is legal in USA period.  For specific legal purpose, such as visa/insurance/pension or such an official copy of Thai marriage certificate is only normal requirement AFAIK.

lop; you are correct there is no requirement in usa; i wanted it recognized in order to simplify survivor rights in assets ,make filing with the IRS married-filing-jointly as legit; and to accelerate the citizenship process (USA) for her; recognition of married accelerates it; that acceleration worked , actually worked Faster (!) than the regulations indicated

Does anybody know if any of these documents expire(validity ) after you obtain them?

There is no expire date on them. I got them 1 month ago. But I still didn't get married...so I hope there is no expiry date.

 

But paper from my country (freedom to married) got 6 months expiry date.

Can you explain what acceleration of marriage recognition is?

I am not sure what that is. The marriage is already recognized by the US. There is no registration of it that can be done. Perhaps he means recognition that it is a real marriage and not one of convenience. 

Perhaps he means it is best she be married for the path to citizenship?  I know there used to be a shortcut to citizenship for military dependents using this method (and perhaps others) whose US spouse was then assigned to a new overseas location.
