May 25, 20179 yr Hi Guys, As mentioned earlier somewhere by me, my uncle (a US citizen) is retiring soon in July. Currently he is on a NON B with workpermit one year extension. He's here with his wife and young kids on dependent extensions. What's the best way for him and his dependents to move from Non B to Non O 1 year extension painlessly?
May 25, 20179 yr He could change the reason for his extension of stay from working to retirement. Then his dependents would get new extensions based upon his new one. He would need a letter from his employer stating his last day of work so that his current extension could be canceled so he could apply for the extension based upon retirement. Then his dependents extensions would be cancelled and new ones applied for. Edited May 25, 20179 yr by ubonjoe

May 25, 20179 yr Author Since he's retiring soon, in july to be exact, and he hasn't seasoned the funds yet, what are his options now?
May 26, 20179 yr If he has some savings, and depending on the location where he lives/applies, he could apply for a retirement extension based on income + savings = B800k. Some locations still require three-month seasoning of savings with the combo method, but some (most?) do not.
