Questions on 800,000 Baht deposit for O-A visa

Featured Replies

Two questions on the 800,000 Baht requirement for O-A visa.

1.Can this be deposited in a (3 month) fixed deposit account rather than a savings account.

Anyone have recent experience with this?

2. Must the 800,000 Baht transferred from abroad in one go, or can it be spread in say two portions over a few days?

It appears you are asking about applying for an extension of stay at immigration here not a OA visa that can only be applied for at an embassy or consulate in your home country.

1. If applying for your first extension the 800k baht only needs to be in a Thai bank for 60 days. It can be in a fixed deposit account but you must be able to withdraw the money without any delay or penalty other than loss of interest.

2. You can transfer the funds in as many portions as you want to. It does not have to be done in one transfer.
