CDN wants to change from marriage to retirement visa

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience changing from marriage to retirement visa. I hold a Canadian passport and would probably not be staying in the same province my current marriage visa is registered from.

You can change your reason for your extension of stay (it is not a visa) obtained at immigration from marriage to retirement when your current one ends.

You need 800k baht in the bank for 3 months or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht on the date you apply.

You would need to change your address to your new one at the office responsible for the province where you will be living if you move.

this is not particularly difficult; as UBJ points out; should you have excessive pre-stress, just go and talk to them

Be aware immigration may want to talk with wife to make sure she is aware of the change in status.  Happened to me about a decade ago in Bangkok when I changed.

Thanks for the quick responses.
How does one prove the 65k baht per month ? Notarized letter from CDN embassy ? Do they ask for bank statements ? I no where near need that much money to live so move much less money over here from home ?

You will do a statutory declaration at the Canadian embassy. They want some proof of the income when you do it.

There is no rule that states you must bring all of your funds into the country.
