I do not know what the custome is, but I had 2 other women that worked for my wife come to a restraunt and have dinner on our first date. (All here relitives mostly live in Issan, and she had a little company she started in Bangkok).

I dont know about the first date but if she is from out of town and from a village you would had better prepare yourself for that experience.

Every relative and member of the village will want to check you out and I do mean check you out.

If and when this time comes remember that with Thais you rarely get a second chance to make a first impression.

I ended up taking 27 people to dinner on my first trip to Isaan with my (now) wife.

Still, it only ended up costing 2000 baht !!

I love Isaan!!
