I think we can all agree we are in truly uncharted territory - Emily Maitlis on LBC saying you have to go back to Charles 1 / Cromwell for anything remotely similar.

Why give that journalistic hack any kind of credence?

Ain't it the truth...

two completely different issues, one is regarding the arrest of a person for alleged misconduct in public office, perfectly right and proper

The other is regarding the arrest and removal of illegal immigrants, also perfectly right and proper.

Your attempt to pull at peoples heart strings is pathetic, very few if any children immigrate illegally on their own, and very few if any are deported on their own.

They are deported along with their parents and any siblings who are also illegal immigrants ( that's assuming their parents have not abandoned them before running away).

Maybe because Andrew will start to sing like a canary for a reduced sentence.

So if he sings in the UK, how do you think that will affect Trump?

Why are you bothered with thumbs up or down? Do you really care about the opinion of anonymous posters, when you even have no idea who is giving you the up or down?
Rhetorical question.

Your opinions and the truth are not synonymous BTW.

What I read in the BBC, Andrew is "suspected" of committing a crime. Is this how it's done in the UK, people are arrested before gathering evidence?

The initial gathering of evidence is what results in a person becoming a suspect. The likelihood of that evidence leading to a conviction in a court of law is what makes the suspect a defendant.

Andrew can ask to be tried by the House of Lords.

He can't. Since 2005 The House of Lords no longer has a judicial function.

Calling her a hack is a bit of a stretch her view is now the consensus among the commentariat. Besides, we shouldn't forget that he chose, entirely of his own volition, to go on the record for that notorious interview. Now that he’s under arrest and potentially under oath, the stakes have shifted. He’s in genuine danger of perjury if he tries to pull that same 'memory lapse' trick again.

https://spectator.com/article/the-seismic-arrest-of-andrew-mountbatten-windsor/

The historical weight here is staggering. No member of the Royal Family has been arrested since the Restoration in 1660, which makes the news of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being taken into custody for misconduct in public office truly seismic. There’s a grim irony in the timing, tooarrested on his 66th birthday, of all days

I gave you a thumbs down for having demonstrated you really don’t grasp the fact that while the UK are delivering justice to the powerful and well connected, the U.S. are engaged in distraction while the powerful and well connected are free from justice.

As long as Trump is President and holds both houses of Congress, he remains effectively 'bombproof.' However, if the Republicans lose the Senate in the 2026 midterms, the landscape changes. While he would almost certainly be impeached by a Democrat-led House, an impeachment trial without a two-thirds majority in the Senate still lacks the 'legs' to actually remove him from office. The real danger isn't the impeachment itself; it's the evidence Andrew might provide that could fuel state-level criminal cases once Trump eventually leaves the White House

It is disgusting. Hopefully, they will pay the price for this in the mid-term elections.

Great Britain is having a good run - the non corrupt police have arrested the brother of the King and our PM is staying out of the war in Iran. A lot of the free world is now giving the bum's rush to Trump - let him do his worse. We will take it and he can tariff to the moon we no longer care.

Are they allowed to have a lawyer present during the interrogation? Sorry for the dumb questions. I'm not sure how the UK legal system works.

Yes, they are. As the article I linked to earlier states:

Arrests & Interviews Under Caution

All suspects in this situation (being interviewed under police caution) are entitled to speak to an independent lawyer free of charge.

With an arrest being made, essentially the case is now sub judice, probably for a year or more, while the police carry out their investigations. It will enable any government minister to respond to press requests with a simple no comment. Parliamentarians also cannot discuss the case, for the purposes of justice. It also shuts down, essentially, UK press from making idle speculation, because they might find themselves charged. And this extends to social media. And when it comes to US government or other official requests for AMW to travel to "speak" to people, they can be told to forget it while a live investigation by a police force is under way.

Crikey someone had a great day yesterday.

That image—taken by Phil Noble of Reuters just last night (Thursday, Feb 19, 2026)—is likely the most valuable piece of press photography since the 1990s.

To give you an idea of the "bounty" on a shot like that, we have to look at the market for "Historical Shocks." Because this is the first time a senior Royal has been in a police cell in modern history, it isn't just a "pap shot"; it’s a primary historical document.

1. The Immediate "Syndication" Value

Unlike a freelance "paparazzo" shot, this was captured by a Reuters staffer. This means the money doesn't go into one man's pocket, but the royalties for the global rights are immense.

  • Estimated value: For exclusive, first-use rights on a global front page, a photo like this can command between £150,000 and £250,000 in the first 24 hours alone.

  • Long-term syndication: Because every documentary, book, and "End of the Monarchy" retrospective for the next 50 years will use this photo, its "lifetime" earnings will easily cross £1 million.

2. How it Compares to the "Greats"

In the world of high-value photos, "The Shocked Prince" is sitting in the top tier:

  • The "Fab Four" Christmas Shot (2017): A simple phone photo of Harry, Meghan, William, and Kate earned an amateur photographer over £40,000 in royalties.

  • Princess Diana & Dodi (1997): The "Kiss" photo on the yacht sold for roughly £4.5 million ($6m).

  • The Andrew "Release" Shot: While it might not hit the £4m mark (because news moves faster now), it is far more valuable than a standard celebrity "walk-about" because of the criminal context.

3. Why that specific photo is worth so much

It’s all about the "Mighty Fallen" energy we discussed. Collectors and editors look for three things:

  1. The Expression: He isn't just "in a car"; he is "slumped" and "visibly shaken." That is the "money shot."

  2. The Location: The grainy reflection of Aylsham Police Station in the window provides the legal "proof" of the fall.

  3. The Timing: It was taken on his 66th birthday. That "birthday in a cell" narrative makes the photo twice as valuable for tabloid headlines.

Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, in your 2019 Newsnight interview, you stated quite emphatically that a medical condition rendered you physically unable to sweat. Yet, here in Court 4, under the pressure of these proceedings, the jury can see considerable evidence of perspiration. Given that you were prepared to offer the British public a 'medical impossibility' as an alibi then, why should this court believe a single word of your testimony now ?

< for those that can't read context this is a idle speculation as to how the defendant if charged and appear in court as to how he might be cross examinded.

Thankyou for your attention to this matter.

We are informed the arrest was made on the basis of passing secrets to Epstein.

We can add that to the knowledge Mandelson was passing secrets to Epstein.

Clear evidence that Epstein was involved in espionage.

This raises a number of legitimate questions:

Who was Epstein funneling these secrets too? Who was he working for?

Was it the purpose of the child rape ring he was running to gather blackmail material on people with secrets that Epstein was engaged in gathering.

The possibility that the child rape ring Epstein was running was in truth an organized espionage operation is a very clear possibility.

Virtually every online media source in the UK has now shut down all commenting on articles related to this court. Posters may find themselves in contempt of court if they speculate on the details of the case, or speculate on the character of the accused. Anyone here under the age of 75 who maintains UK residency in some way may find themselves required for jury service.

In Britain we clean out the stables from time to time to keep the elite on their toes. It has served us well and the time has come for another clean up of the body politic and whilst Trump is distracted by Iran we should consider an expedition up the Potomac and throw tar barrels into the White House !
