rhinophyma rosacea of nose, PDL (V-beam) recommendations bkk ?

Featured Replies

Hello, can anyone recommend or know anyone who does

PDL (V-beam) lasers for rhinophyma of the nose/face? My US dermotologist recommending it. Apparently, one needs multiple treatments.

I'm assuming it would be more affordable in BKK.

or any reliable leads appreciated

thanks can you recommend one over another at all? pricing, personal experiences, etc?

I'm not really familiar with lasers, My US derm MD recommended this specific type of laser , the apex site is only in Thai.

Is there any particular clinic with better English speaking staff? I'm concerned about cosmetic surgery in Thailand, in general. Though, the PDL , my MD said should be pretty safe compared to others to do. Also, that it would probably take multiple sessions, etc

I have used all mentioned. V beam laser is common. All mentioned can do this.

But English speaking is another matter, especially among clinic staff as opposed to the doctors.

The branch of Apex at Emporium is probably the best bet, English speaking-wise.

OK thanks ; I called our local Derm Clinic, asking for "PDL V-beam" and was told they don't have it but offer "pico" and "IPL" (stronger) ; a $175 "cosmetic consult", which is then applied to procedure, each laser session being $250- $350 / session.

Internet is saying the "PDL" is not the same as "pico" laser for the combination of redness and veins on tip of nose mostly.

Is pricing , say at Emporium or EM Q, going to be quite a bit less than the above ~$1000 for 3 sessions?

Normally consult does not cost anything, just the treatment.

Pico and IPL and both different from V-Beam. V-Beam is specifically for redness/blood vessels whereas pico is for pigmentation, tattoos etc.

I suggest to avoid this place.

Cost of V-Beam (and other laser treatments for that matter) depends entirely on the number of "shots" (pulses) that have to be given. A session can be as little as 1,000 baht or as much as 20,000+, depending in size of the area treated. You can see prices at Yanhee Hospital here

https://www.yanhee.net/pricing-packages/skin-treatments-prices/

I would expect Apex to be not much different. Perhaps a little higher.

Yanhee itself is certainly an option, they have Filippino admin staff working there to make it easy for English speakers and costs are competitive. But location is not so convenient, it is on other side of the river (Thonburi area).

Does Apex have MD appts first? Just go by and ask or , or Yanhee considering how far it is, one calls to make an appointment with any particular skin? doctor you might recommend ?

They do not require a Dr appt first if that is what you mean. Obviously, , Dr will take a look before applying laser but no need for separate visit. Since you have already seen a doctor who diagnosed the condition, I would just call (or stop by, if in Bkk) and ask for V beam appt.

Following this closely as I have been to 2 hospitals (4 drs) and a high end dermatology clinic in BKK 1.5 mo ago where none of them see to want to deal with it. I also have a deviated nasal septum I want dealt with.

What drrm issue are you looking to treat? OP refrrs yo a very foecific condition.

For deviated septum you need an ENT. This one is very good:

Thanks! I actually live in Chiang Mai but had scheduled the BKK appts on the way back from Koh Samed. BKK hospital in BKK is where I started first and was shuttled around from one dept to the next with no real result. I have a couple of more leads here in CM I would like to follow up. Will contribute back on what I find.
