British police have arrested a dual U.K.-Iranian national on suspicion of plotting a terror attack following a security incident at a U.S.-run air base in England over the weekend.
The 27-year-old man was arrested in London on Thursday, police said. Officers also searched two properties in the U.K. capital as part of the investigation.
Arrest In London
Counter-terror officers moved after the incident at RAF Fairford, a Royal Air Force base used by American bombers to carry out strikes on Iran.
Police did not provide further details about the allegations against the 27-year-old, other than the suspicion of involvement in a plot.
Earlier Detentions At RAF Fairford
On Sunday, five men, all in their 20s and from London, were arrested in connection with the incident at RAF Fairford. They have since been released on bail.
The arrests formed part of the same police response to the weekend incident at the air base.
Investigation Under Way
Counter-terror police also said a second man, a 26-year-old U.K. national, has been questioned under caution.
Vicki Evans, the senior national co-ordinator for counter-terrorism policing for the Metropolitan Police, said officers were examining a range of possibilities as the investigation continued.
