From The Nation newspaper online:

Strong waves from Gulf of Thailand caused by monsoon destroyed 15 houses along the coast in Surat Thani's Thachana district on Thursday as ferries suspended service and people were evacuated to higher places.

Surat Thani authorities issued a warning for people living along the coast to be more cautious as the monsoon hit the province.

Just to add, I have heard Chaloklum is getting slammed, once again. A yearly occurrence over there. We are on the leeward side of the island so only have high tides, so far (fingers crossed!).

Some boats are still running, Lomprayah Catamaran, Haadrin Queen are both running and the Raja Ferry is apparently, running a passenger trip as the waves are too high to dock the ferry to let off vehicles.
