My Australian pension is (for some reason known only to them ), sent first to city Bank Bangkok then forwarded to B K Bank in Chiangmai. As the bank statements ( for one year)showed money from Thailand not from oversees The bank here said they could not give me letter saying money was from pension . Immigration would not accept letter from Center link with government letterhead showing amount of pension. Fortunately I had time to post a bank check to city bank in Bangkok 1000 baht to supply a statement showing all twelve deposits came from Australia as pension payments from Oz. I had to post a bank check and when the letter arrived attach it to the 12 months bank statements from B K B. City bank does not accept money transfers so it must be by post. If your deposit book shows letter BTN next to the deosit the money was transferred by a receiving bank then sent to you after conversion to Thai Baht.Check it out in time for your visa renewal. It may add at least a week or more .

Agree but OP is referring to a criminal not civil apples and oranges sort of.
I Should have mentioned before these plaintiffs filed criminal charges first, all which got tossed out and refereed to civil court. A real experience for me to witness in all this mess. The lesson is avoid a Thai court unless you are loaded and have lots of time. Lawyers here would run circles around a dairy milking machine.

Yeah I think Thai law is pretty much the same as the UK but that said when it gets to court Thai courts and Judges can be more forgiving in certain circumstances.
Having recently been involved with four civil suits where the plaintiffs won all four only to now see the accused has so far won two of the appeals and will likely succeed on two more. It seems to me the lower court makes decisions based a lot on emotion and opinion whereas the higher court relies more on the law.

From a previous thread.
"You can request statements (at your local bank branch) for detailed statements from their HQ, itemising foreign transactions as Bahtnet or Foreign TT deposits. Takes approx 5 days to process. + Bank letter.
According to TI, all bank HQ's are already aware of Immigrations requirements for detailed statements showing overseas transfers, which your local branch may not be able to confirm or supply."
the bangkok bang will not issue a letter saying any funds marked btn arrived from out of Thailand. It means the money went to another bank first and then sent to your account at B K B. In My case all BTN deposits went from my pension allowance into City bank Bangkok. I had to contact City bank to get statement that the funds came from my pension supplier oversees. Cost 1000 baht, form posted by check Takes about a week . B K B can identify your btn source so you can call them and get a usable letter for extension.

It suspect your bank used a intermediary Thai bank for the funds transfer.
What bank did you use for the transfer?
Btn means the money was sent to another institution and then transfered to B K B,.In my case pension from Australia goes to City bank Bangkok then to my account in Chiangmai. The bank cannot issue a letter saying the money came from outside Thailand as it came from Bangkok. I had to contact City bank bangkok post 1000 baht check to get them to verify my money came from Australian pension. Letter from bank must be from the bank that receives it form O S . Takes about a week. This post. was meant to go to pib in response to his post

I ordered a years worth of bank statements to show international deposits to apply for extension with the money in bank plus income method..
Was shocked to learn the bank cannot confirm origin of money if it says btm next to the deposited funds. Turns out center link sends the pension deposit to City Bank in Bangkok so Bangkok bank cannot give a letter showing overseas deposits. The only solution was to contact Citi bank and order a new letter that says 12 monthly payments come from center link in Australia. I needed to post the bank statements needing to be verified along with a bank check for a thousand baht as they cannot accept transfered funds. They will email the information back to me, showing all pension payments made for the year. Just a heads up to anyone relying on bank statements that money went first to city bank then forwarded to bangkok bank.

Yes, make sure that this is a one off and not monthly.
They get good commissions on insurance, so be careful!
good for one year.

You must prove where the money comes from. You cannot just recycle 65k

My agent says you need a combination of say 400,000 in the bank and income in a monthly account showing an annual income up to another 400,000 or more so that over the year you have 800,000 This has been the case for me with the deposit book for the past 7 years. I may need bank statements instead of deposit book but either way it comes to over 800,000. What immigration seems to be doing is catching out people who work illegally or have no way of showing where their money comes from. Borrowing from a friend for a few days may have worked in the past but no longer hence the need for proof of income from a pension source not just topping up ones account from say on line selling or work. They want to see where it comes from. This is for retirement visa. They seem hell bent on cleaning out abusers of the system but it appears if you have your house in order it is no problem. Of course we shall see??

So do they still accept proof from bank of say half a million in bank account plus deposit books showing income for say 50, 000 income?

The rent will be only 10000 tb / month.
We won't spend more than this or I know that it won't be possible to have profit.
The place is littered with farrang spending big on fit outs and renovations only to have the landlord cancel the deal and keep it for themselves. The main one is as soon as you are lucky enough to be making money they will not renew lease or worse, find any excuse to toss you out so they can run the place for themselves. Leases here are pretty much useless against an owner who wants you out. Unless you own the premises you are at someone else s mercy. Good for those who find a good landlord.

We may get a bit of ash blow over from a total annihilation of that maniac. Every one of his artillery pieces, factories , nuke sites AND his fat little butt has a big target on it. Who needs it? No one. But if he is crazy enough to pull the trigger he and his piss ant little country will be wiped off the map.

Fine. My point is that politicians everywhere are confronted daily with people who want more and more out of government services and want to pay less and less in tax. Theoretically it could be done if government administration could be made more efficient (ie sack thousands upon thousands of public servants, which of course costs huge amounts of money to do) but no politicians will ever do that because the voters (of whom the public servants are a large slab) will punish them. I was a Defence bureaucrat and I know of what I speak.
The voters get what they vote for.
Amen...

As always (and everywhere in the world, I guess), the people who complain about the high level of taxes and the high cost of living are the same people who are always expecting and demanding ever higher levels of government services and interventions to improve the world ...

I spent 35 years in OZ and the last 15 saw a downward, nanny state pc creep that has wrecked the place. When I look at the conga line of useless self serving politicians over that time I cringe. It used to heaven on a stick. You could go to pub in Newtown and drink and laugh with all the migrants from around the world. Take the piss and share the shouts. Now Newtown if full of greens and snowflakes. Prices only fit only for the elite. Property tax, car rego and rents through the roof. The true Aussie battler has been beaten to a pulp. I still love my country. Maybe when the voters get a gut full they will find a true leader to make it right again. In the meanwhile I like it here and intend to stay. Sorry for the guys who rely on rental income and C G tax to survive.

According to a friend who recently tried to sue someone for defamation was told by his lawyer that a suite must be filed within 90 days of the defamatory remark. If your post was more than 90 days ago or you can string it out you should be O K.

It is sad to see so many unhappy T V members living in Thailand. It must be terrible to hate the food, feel ostracized and paranoid about all those Thai's just waiting to hate them and rip them off, having no friends other than a few bar girls , liking only the beer. Perhaps one should start a T V anonymous club to help unhappy expats break out of their doom and gloom and and enjoy the l o s for what is. What you make it.

These people have to be in contact with people smugglers who have access to boats. This is done to make bulk money not try to help anyone. The only way to stop it is to not let anyone land, give them the means to return safely and put the smugglers out of buisness. Australia went from 1200 drownings and 50'000 arrivals to zero by doing this. Genuine refugees have other means beside people smugglers. The Australian government purchased a large number of those self contained orange life boats. They gave them enough fuel and food for a one way trip home. So no longer could they use the old trick of sinking their boats for rescue. The only way to help these people is for the U N and others to pressure and or assist the countries these people come from to deal with their own problems. Europe is finaly adopting Australias methods before they are over run.

It is common here when leaving a house that will be demolished to take everything from roof to floor boards. Send the family out for a day cruise or picnic then strip evrything you can lay your hands on out of the place. Leave it the same sh^&t fight as when you found it. It won't save you money but it if it was me I would sure feel a lot better. Any Thai doing these things deserve nothing . There are so many friendly, intelligent and down right nice people here, it is too bad you got lumbered with some crap ones. ( wife excluded)

The Australian honorary council in Chiangmai has resigned in protest over treatment of Paraplegics and wheelchair bound elderly who are now required to show up in person for identity confirmation. This is a huge burden to this group who must book not only for themselves but also for a carer to help them to Bangkok. This creates not only a huge financial burden but one of stress for diabled pensioners. I am writting to the consul general to put my strong objection to this stupid rule. In Australia a priest, policeman or magistrate can swear identity for passport identification. Why not here? Mr. Walther , the current honorary consul does a great job for us.Think of the hassle we will need to go through without his services? Like confirming income. Will we have to do this in person or trust the post? What about all the other services we will be denied by this move.
I urge all Australian pensioners here to put in their objections. The address is readily available on Google. They have not yet confirmed a replacement ,if any. I personaly want to show support for the current Mr. Walthers for his good works and in particular to the disadvantaged disabled.

If you want to see what total ban on burning does, google black friday in Australia. If you let the brush and weeds pile up any fire started destroys the trees as well as kills many people in towns that get wiped out. My mother in law from the north says all you city whiners can get lost. You pollute the air all year long with your cars and factories and we only do it for a few weeks. I never brought it up again.

So what did he live on for four years? If they find anything illegal it will be more than deportation. Thai jails are a nightmare of squalor and overcrowding. Get him out of there real quick before they dig into the past 4 years. Just in case??
