  1. It's just as bad as Taco Bell in the US.  Bland/tasteless unless soaked in their salty hot sauce, no salsas of any quality or spice included before or during the cooking process.    If you like that taste, you will love it!

  2. https://www.hotmeals2u.com/ may be just one restaurant, but it is quite good food.  If your residence is a bit hard to find, like mine is, you may have trouble getting the apps to find it and the map pinpoint function may or may not work.  It picks a random location for me trying to use foodpanda and grab keeps moving my house location.  If you are in east pattaya, you can call Route 66 (map issues online), Taco House or Sammis, they all deliver and food is good.  New York Pizza House online works well too.

Deju vu.. I told you so....

THAI vaccination program should have done a better job  studying the composition of each vaccines and how it will work. Instead, they have depend on early development of the local , buy cheaper vaccines having problem in various countries.. They have avoid the vaccines that has proven more efficient to control the virus. Moderna and Pfizer- Never place a hefty ordr in December. They could have made the deal with Pfizer like Israel.

Keep dancing on this issue, the opportunity was missed to implement the right vaccines orders soon enough. may it was political motivated leaning on Chinese product to motivate Chinese tourist to come to Thailand. that is what it looks like it.

Now, there is a major health concern. Thai missed the window for the major push for the vaccination program..

May be they can  ask Joe Biden for more donation or ask him to make a deal with Pfizer in return they can treat the local US farangs  living in Thailand better .( instead of being "dirty") and improve their immigration saga.

    Something must be done....

The 30,000 Americans living in Thailand are treated the same as the 300,000 Thais living in America, except for the vaccine issue, and a few other unimportant things like property ownership.

  4. Murphy, Moran, Colleagues Urge Blinken to Help Americans Living Abroad Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19:

(It appears to be bipartisan, perhaps it could move forward?)

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) on Thursday led a bipartisan letter calling on U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to support COVID-19 vaccination efforts for the nine million Americans living abroad.  Let's see if this goes anywhere!

something I have noticed hanging out in Bangkok is that Thais, women* in particular are really scared.

I see a lot of double masks and face shields being worn. BTS/MRT maybe 75% empty on a Saturday.

*this has nothing to do with me.

It seems, there are a lot of ladies that prefer to wear the mask if they can.  Was apparent a long time before the pandemic.   I suppose it slows the direct inhalation of some nasty stuff otherwise it would not be so recommended by and also worn for the last century by medical professionals around sick people.   Here I thought they were protecting us from them!

  6. If you are in extreme pain, Morphine and Oxycontin are available from the hospital by prescription and work well in small doses.  Bangkok Hospital pharmacies normally have stock of it, at least in Pattaya for certain.

  7. I order from iherb.  Most of the yogurts and krauts, kimchi, miso etc 'are too low in probiotics to offer the health benefits seen in clinical trials'.  When it Is pasteurized, it does not contain live probiotics any longer. They are killed and so you get none of the probiotic benefits.  Study up if you are looking for probiotics in food, it's not as common as it was 100 years ago due to processing.

I was experiencing gut issues about a year ago and started taking 1 probiotic supplement a day, it fixed it for me.

Why not? He makes it clear in the above statement that as Deputy Prime minister he has no authority and that all decisions are made by Prime Minister Prayut.  As far as the virus goes, all decisions are made by the CCSA so he has no responsibility for those either. Makes you wonder why they bother to employ him.

Must be a poor translation.  This is throwing ones boss under the buss in this situation.  'Complied with' him vs 'supported him'.

What would be a better choice to say to the public as a show of strength from govt?

Add these two TAT Ministers to the numbers.  The government folks seem to not be Covid free after getting vaccinated.

    Wishing them a speedy recovery.

The numbers today should be higher but I think they are reflecting the hospitals running short on tests and the actual lab doing the checking of being overwhelmed much like the government who was caught off guard.

Could it be that the tests are running short because of a significant increase in testing running up to the holiday?  That could be why the shortage?

    More testing, more cases too?

  10. The holy grail of 8% per annum is possible with a lot of Thai mutual funds.  I opted out for years on what my former company had through a bank for staff to invest in. The low, medium and high risk options available always for years outperformed expectations with the high risk option averaging just over 10%/annum over the past 10 years.   Invest carefully with good clear documentation from the bank.

  11. So on average, a cop has THB 1,291,866 of debt.  If this were only for newly borrowed home loans including interest for a 30 year loan, a cop would need THB 3,589/month to pay for the loan.   If the cop has no home loan debt, but bought a reasonable, not expensive car and this is all the bank debt, a 6 year loan, if this includes interest would need to pay the bank back THB 17,942/month.

Has Covid really done that much damage to cop salaries from the govt?
