  1. My on-line 90 day report wouldn't work so I went to Cheng Wattana yesterday and did the 90 day report in person (it was very quiet and quickly completed).

    I took the opportunity to ask the Immigration Office why it didn't work on-line and she summoned someone to explain to me .......

    She said that the first 90 day report after re-entry to the Kingdom must be done in person and cannot be done on-line. Is this correct??

    Last year I went to Cambodia and did the first 90 day report after re-entry on-line without problems. My friend went home to Sweden and did his first 90 day report after re-entry on-line without problems so I'm not sure this advice is correct unless something has changed recently.

    Searching the web for some clues I found on pattayacityexpatsclub that they say the first report after re-entry is different but no mention that it won't work on-line.

    Is there anybody with any knowledge of this rule?

  2. I arrived in Thailand on 20/11/2015 (on a reentry permit). I had a 12 month extension of stay (retirement) with permission until 31/12/15.

    I went to Cheng Wattana on 17/12/15 to;

    1) change my address (Korat to Bangkok),

    2) renew my 12 month extension (retirement), which was successfully extended to 31/12/16.

    I thought my 90 day was due 18/2/16 (based on arrival 20/11/15 + 90 days). I did ask the Immigration Officer whilst at CW in Dec if notifying a change of address counted as notifying my address per 90 day - she said no it didn't and I had to do my 90 day based on the date I entered the country.

    I'm trying to do my 90 day on line now (18th Feb less 14 days = 4th Feb) but I'm getting the Contact Immigration error which suggest something is wrong.

    Are my dates correct or was the Immigration Office wrong and I don't need to report till 17/12 + 90 days?

  3. I have got my re-entry at Swampy and DM several times without any issue. The thought of queuing at Cheng Watanna for a re-entry permit is ..... urgh!

    At both airports they are fast and efficient; I've never had a long wait, never had a problem and I've flown at night too. From my experience I would never consider spending the time going to an immigration office for a re-entry permit.

    I can only assume FredNL that your friends didn't find the right desk (as it is small and difficult to find if you don't know where to look) or the information is some years old as things have now changed.

  4. I had a re-entry permit at DM last week.

    As you're at the immigration counter you need to ask for a Re-entry permit and they direct you to an office behind the immigration booth.

    I took nothing with me, no form, no photo .....

    There were two officers, the lady who served me was quick, efficient and friendly and took the photo, filled in the form and explained it all to me when completed; about 5 mins.

    Excellent service and very easy ...... no problem :-)

  5. 80 Km/Hr, but they usually let you do 120 Km/hr. (90km in "City Limits").

    When you get stopped, the police will tell you the limit is below what you were doing so the actual legal limit is immaterial!

    I was stopped when I was doing just below 120 and the policeman told my wife the limit was 115km; thankfully a lot of laughing and smiling let him wave us on.

  6. Move.

    Count yourself VERY lucky you don't own.

    Worrying, considering all the options, getting involved with the police, complaining, planning retaliation etc etc will take over your life and make it a misery.

    Just move and be happy.

  7. So, I'm English and like European food.

    My wife is Thai and likes Thai food.

    Now, we're lucky that I also like Thai food and my wife also likes European food.

    BUT, if she said to me you MUST eat Thai food I wouldn't be happy.

    If you say to her, you MUST eat this farang food she's not happy.

    Compromise = happy marriage.

    Today farange food, tomorrow Thai food. Everyone happy :-)

  8. I find it particularly frustrating when better quality hotels, that tend to charge a premium for nice facilities, block book 10's of rooms for a conference or tours that then disrupt the peace for everyone else.

    Their quest to fill the rooms is short lived when people complain/post poor reviews.

    Having said that the culture here is to accept that everyone has a right to make a noise whereas in western culture everyone has a right to peace.
