My beer drinking procedures when in Thailand:
I normally drink Beer Chang from large bottles.
Preparation: Put beers in the fridge hours before usage.
1. step: Fill a glass with ice cold beer. Drink fast.
2. step: Fill the glass with ice. Fill the glass with beer. Stir. Drink fast.
3. step: Fill the glass with beer. Stir two times. Drink fast.
Repeat step 2 and 3 until you run out of beers.
I can't remember more steps.
Cheers!

I have used this company a few times last year with great satisfaction. http://www.bangkoklimo.org/
You decide yourself when to have breaks.

We recently used this company, and we were satisfied with the service.

We usually rent from a local company. Normally a driver is included in the price, and gasoline is extra.
Here is just the first example from google with a fair price. If going several hours, I would go for super VIP if available.

Try to check the promotions from Big C and Tesco. The often have notebooks in their promotions on their website.
Example: Tesco

Cheers Patriot, that is a great idea! Any suggestions on where to find a good one?
Finland
Yes, excellent suggestion as always. There used to be a small little business just out of Ubon dealing in Finnish Christmas trees not so long ago. He was also a member of Thai Visa, perhaps he could let us know if he has any available for this year.
Don't bother. My parents in law brought a small one from Denmark all the way to Isaan. A dog ate it.

Must add that a foodcenter could be the solution. In Bangkok many food centers is situated at top of a shopping mall. Eg. Platinum, Pratunam MBK........

I would think you have an very easy task. Even at seafood restaurants you can get no seafood food.
Really almost every restaurant must fit your challange. The more street, the more non tourist.
Good luck!

Just an update:
Trip completed in Toyota VIP Minivan in 9 hours 30 minutes. With 2,5 hours of stops give 7 hours of driving. Out of Bangkok centre was slowly this time - maybe 45 minutes.
My parants just completed trip from Kalasin to Hua Hin in 9 hours and 30 minutes with one eating break and a few others in a BMW3.

Some years ago we had some aluminium windows installed. The guys arrived with long aluminium profiles and build the windows at the side. I don't know if thats the normal way to do it, but they still works fine.

Maximum speed limit in Thailand is 90km unless otherwise indicated. So far, I've never seen road sign outside of BKK that allows one to exceed 90 km.
I can add, that I have never understood the meaning of stripes separating the lanes in Thailand.

I have done similar a couple of times, and can recommend it. Especially if your origin and destination is away from airports, and the economy of course gets better if more people are traveling together.
For the next time we have ordered a VIP Mini Van (private of course) from Downtown Bangkok to Kalasin, which actually is a bit longer route (600 km). VIP should mean bigger seats. Price including all: 7.000 baht. I would guess cheaper, if a normal car like Toyota Camry was chosen. The company calculate with 1 hours of driving equals 100 km and add stops to that.
Two years ago I had a taxi-driver take my girlfriend from Suvarnabhumi to Petchabun for 3500B.
No wonder the rented mini vans are the real menaces on Thai roads. 100 kmh average speed? Meaning they need to keep at least 130 kmh to average 100 considering other vehicles, road conditions, road works, towns and villages etc. And braindead drivers most of them. Good luck to you.
Thank you very much.
We have been doing the trip a couple of times, and I must say that the road conditions actually are quite good. Leaving Bangkok in the morning is the right time considering traffic jam. And most of the trip is done on 2-3 lane highway with separated directions. Hence a speed of 100-130 km/h most of the way seems to be no problem to me.
And normally we do the trip in 7-8 hours including stops og lunch. And we have had no reasons to worry.
But thanks again!
Just remembered that the real menaces on Thai roads by far are the intercity buses. The really goes fast and are only overtaken by other intercity buses.

We are looking for the same as you do. We intend to use this company next time - they have differentiated between normal minivan and VIP minivan.
http://www.bangkoktransferservice.com/ (website seems to be down right now)
If you use them, please report back here. Some pics would be nice. Even if you choose another company, please report back.
Have a nice trip.

Maybe some male pandas heard rumors of tiny female thai pandas and went to check it out?

I would not know of any delivery service in Ubon, but we do get delivered every now and then. The delivery car drives by the house and look if we need to have new bottles.
I guess it is like that all over. The easy way to arrange this type of delivery would be to stop the delivery car and make the deal. We have never been disappointed about the quality of the water.

I have seen a lot of motels along the highways and mainroads.
I would not expect any of them to be on the internet though.

Reaching the age of 40+ my need for eyeglasses has slowly begun.

Hi Bangkok2008
They have quoted 5000B for the Taxi to Lahansai
I think i can do better with a meter taxi than that
Anybody else have any other suggestions?
100 baht cheaper: Airport Limo
The metered taxis have a fixed price for upcountry trip in the car. I found a copy here.
I don't know if it is updated. The distance from airport to Buriram is 380 km. The list does not contain Buriram, but if you look at the prices and distances in the list, an estimated price at 4.000 baht seems likely. Thus 4.900 for a limo ready to go seems comprehensive to me.
Also you will not need to maybe negotiate price, and the driver will know the precise destination.
