I am also looking for a satellite dish. I would prefer a one time charge and I am not to worried about English channels, since I don;t watch TV, but one English news channel would be nice. What I do want however is a dish that I can run three TVs from each being able to have their own programing. Does anyone have any recommendations? I presently have UBC, but can only run one TV from it. Does anyone know if I can get extra boxes to run extra TVs, and would there be a one time charge or an extra monthly charge and how much? Thanks, Issangeorge.
I am not an expert, but I do have two dishes here in Denmark. As far as I know, you will need LNB twin and two receivers to be able to see two different channels on two different TVs in the same time. If you want to see three different channels on three different TVs in the same time you will need a LNB quad (four) or a LNB twin and a LNB single and a receiver for each TV.

You can by one of those tents, where you sit on a chair and a ricecocker provide the steam and heat.
I think just 2.000 bath...

I think you have been given a lot of good advices.
I do find your argument, where you say you have only lived in a big city, and because of that might not like enjoy to live in a smaller city, a bit strange. That is like saying: I do not like heerings, when never have tasted fish. I know some people that have lived their entire life in the big city and only want to get out. But can't.
Maybe you hate it, maybe you love, maybe in between. But you will never really know before you try it!
Lycka til!

Thanks for the detailed answer.
But I am pretty sure, that it is table football like you picture shows. That is because I made the special handmoves while discussing.
L.M.A.O.
IM PRETTY SURE THE TABLE FOOTBALL IS NOT ILLEGAL.........AND MAYBE THEY DONT KNOW THE SPECIAL HAND MOVES YOU WERE MAKING WHILE DISCUSSING,MAYBE THEY THOUGHT YOU WERE JUST ANOTHER CRAZY FARANG
It was my brother in law, and he knows the game very well - from visits at Phuket - so I am sure there is no misunderstanding about what game I was talking about.

I have been visiting two times with my thai family. We go by a minivan and both time we have stopped at a restaurant that is build on the riverside.
It is fantastic to sit there in the afternonn/evening looking at the river.
And then it mayby not be isaan-cheap, but farang cheap it is.
Can recommend it!

I would like to buy a table football, but I have been told that it is illegal to have – even in your own house.
The explanation I have got, is that people will play for money or something like that. At the same time it is legal to play snooker – and at the snooker table money jumps from pocket to pocket – even when the police are there.
The town is Kuchinarai in Kalasin.
Can anyone explain to me please?

I brought one liter from Denmark two weeks ago - just to be sure!
But I am sorry - I do not sell.

To finchy
I think you are doing the right things!
My recommendation to any potentiel housebuilders are:
Buy some books with diiferent houses, drawings, pictures, priceideas. Decide what you like, maybe remove or move a wall, put in another room. Then look for recommendations from people, who recently have had their own house build and are satisfied. Hire their "A-to-Z" man. Discuss your plans with him - he will know what can be done and not.
DO NOT GO FOR FANCY COMMERSIALS!
Satisfaction from other customers is the best guideline!!!!

Land Costs
in Isaan
I would start to offer 20.000 bath and then be ready to pay 25.000-35.000 for land as descibed.
After offering let time do the work...
Don't bother about water and stuff - it can easily be done after.

This might be an option worth considering.
I made a deal this year for a Honda Jazz with driver for 1.500 bath + gas. Pick up in airport.
The destination was aprox. half way from Khon Kaen to Mukdahan.
Your traveltime should be about 3,5-4 hours.
If you are many - or you want to take a nap, the minivan with driver option is 1.800 bath/12 hours
-
Thank you for a very good explanation. That's really worth considering.

I - no my wife - own land in Kuchinarai. So I am interested. Usufruct is noy a word you learn i danish schools, so I had to look it up too.
But I still have no idea, what the first post means? And what is the difference from before?
An explanation for those who haven't studied law please.

Brilliant story, that could describe some of my days in Isaan.
Sometimes the trip include a visit to the dam, but it always include visiting family and friends.
First I would be a bit annoyd about the detour, but now I enjoy it.
I think it is about living your life now, and not wait until you have bought your articles in Tesco.
And by the way - I always bring some bags of coffee.

You can fly domestic without passport.
But you should always carry your passport/visa to be able to show on demand.

I have tried to go to the station 3 days before departure.
1. class sold out.
2. class sold out.
Also the day before and the day after.
Ended up in the bus.
So I would always make reservations in good time!

I would recommend you take a taxi from the taxistand. Pay 300 something bath go on payroad and i'm sure you will be able to catch your flight - and even get bored in Don Muang.

500 bath???
Please put a link - the cheapest I have seen is 850-950 bath.
Thanks

I always seem to get pass the immigration before the luggage are ready.
So to me it's just a question of where I have to wait.
For me it has been pretty fast every time - 30 minutes after leaving the plane, I was in a taxi.
-
I never had any problems. Just look for the taxi counter - they speak english - tell them where you are going, and they will tell the driver.

Some of our friends had this built last year. I think the price in total was 40.000 bath. The lenght is aprox. 2x(50+20)= 140 m
The price would have been higher in the busy season, but it was build, when many had nothing else to do.
We should be be buildning one ourselves 10 m down the road in december this year, and if I remember, I will add the costs later.

Hi, all.
I will need to rent a car and driver in Korat on the 31st of this month. I will need the car/driver in the Korat area for three days, and then will be staying in Khon Kaen from the 3rd until the 5th of June. Will this be a problem to ask a driver to come to Khon Kaen for those days?
Does anyone have any ideas on what this should cost? and does anyone have any suggestions on where to rent the car and driver? Would it be possible to find a driver who speaks English? and how much more might that raise the cost by?
Thanks very much.....
Standardprice is 1.500 THB/day including a driver. In addition you pay for the gas.
The link is an example from Khon Kaen.

Go visit the closest doctor. Expect to pay 100-200 bath for consultation, medicine and maybe an injection.
