  1. If you remember, how did you file and collect? Didi you go to a SS office and fill out forms, then would they have wired it to your account?
  2. Thanks for your reply. Do you remember how long the time frame was? I've also read that the SSO is supposed to send out a notice. I have not been contacted by anyone.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I read about both the pension type ( 15 years working / monthly payment) and the lump sum for working more than 12 months but less than 15 years. So if its under 15 years then nothing huh? Gues that info is incorrect. I didn''t know, just came across it today and was optimistic.
  4. Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum - admin please move accordingly if not. I just found out I can collect a lump sum payout of money I paid into Thai social security for working more than 12 months but less than 15 years. How did I not know this? 🤔 I also have seen some AI and fuzzy type proclamations that this must be done within 2 years of reaching 55 and becoming unemployed? For my example: I quit my job 1.5 years ago, I'm 58 years old, I've worked over 12 months but less than 15 years. Is there a time limit to claim my benefit? Many thanks.
  5. Sorry, I don't understand. I meant changing local currency, for example VND BACK to USD (or THB) at the end of the trip before I returned back to TH. That would be ridiculous. Or bring back loads of VND? But if it is not a requirement for those reentering TH on a non 0 or extension therof, then not to worry. I was just reading how Thai Imm is denying folks entry on that requirement.
  6. ? "Have it again"? Do you mean bring in another SE asian currancy equivalent to 20,000 bht? I can't get USD (for example) where I'm going. Will be using a local ATM. Could get it I suppose, but would take a beating at the currency exchange.
  7. Yes, I have extension, will get reentry when I leave. Should have specified reentering Thailand, my bad. so People reentering Thailand with Non O's and extensions are not required to show 20,000 in cash?
  8. Sounds Ok if you stay in 3 star or above hotels with safes. I don't travel that way however.
  9. True not huge, but I was planning a trip to another SE asian country for approx 3 months. That would require me to keep aside and carry around over 600 usd for the entire trip. Not ideal.
  10. Hi, Do people on non O (marriage for me) visas and extensions need to have 20,000 baht in cash when entering Thailand? Or is that requirement for visa exempt and tourist visas? Thanks
  11. Update, renewed at Bang Chak. Walk in. No appointment- Nov 2025
  12. Update,,, can be paused and restarted after each section.
  13. Hi, thanks for all the replies. Does anyone know if you can pause the E learning on the website/ and or log out then back in later to continue? I want to make sure I have enough time in the evening to complete it. Very busy at the moment. Thanks
  14. Thanks for your reply. What did they mean by" get a queue with a Thai ID". Do you mean they told you to get a queue with a Pink ID? I didn't know there was an option. It just says foreigner on the queue system, as far as I can tell. Also, when you say a walk in is difficult, do you know if there is a policy where no walk ins are not accepted? I do realize nothing is uniform in TH, so probably no policy.
  15. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if you can walk in without an appointment for a 5 year DL renewal? I also would like to know if I can renew my DL in another district or province from where I live (from where my on file address is). I have heard conflicting information for both questions and am trying to get a definitive answer (or close to it ) before I spend an entire day (or two) embarking on this adventure. The main obstacle is that I have already gotten a COR and it will expire before I can get an appointment in Bangkok. I also want to travel out of country soon and will need it for moto rental in another ASEAN country. Many thanks for all and any help.
  16. Hi, My question is the same as above, but I've read conflicting information so would like to get some more certainty. I am thinking of making an appointment at the DLT in Samut Sakhon as no Bangkok DLTs have availability within a reasonable timeframe. I have read (Just in one post) from a foreigner stating he was denied and told he had to renew his license in Bangkok because that is his address / on licenses, TM 30 , COR, etc. My address is in Bangkok but wish to go outside to renew. Is this possible? Thanks Also, I have read walk ins are no longer possible for foreigners to renew a 5 year license. Does anypone know if this is correct? Thanks. This thread seems to be about 2 years old so trying to get some updated info also.
  17. Concerning the Thai renewal DL, I have just read on another thread that foriegners cannot walk in to Bang Chak (area 3) to renew and must make an appointment online. Does anyone know if this is correct? I have just attempted to make an appointment but they are more than a month booked in advance- making my COR void. Thanks. The other 2 DLTs in BKK are also booked pretty solid but could possibly get in under the wire. So, I'd rather walk in if possible. I also just read that you must go to the DLT nearest your TM 30/ COR address? That doesnt sound right. Does anyone know if this is true? Many thanks
  18. My B Day month is November. How would I get extra time? Do you mean if I renew after B day, I will get extra time? I would have to wait a few days till after expiry date correct?
  19. Hi Dr Jack, thanks for all your replies. Just looking back at the comments. Noting that you mention to "tick car on the form for COR" or I will have to pay for 2 CORs, I do have to renew both car and Motorcycle. How does checking just the car selection on the form avoid having to get 2 COR's? I have read they need 2 original CORs at DLT - one for car and one for motorcycle. Ah, just read your other comment about a photocopy being alright at DLT. Is this so? I will be going to Area 3 (Sukhumvit Bang Chak- if that makes any difference)
  20. Thanks for your reply. Just to make sure I understand completely, a Yellow book is not accepted to renew a 5 year Thai DL? I will still need a COR even with a yellow book? Thanks
  21. I just got an appointment to get a Yellow book from my local amphur, next week. Therefore, might not need the COR. I've read elsewhere that I can do my first 90 day report by mail instead of slogging it up to CW. Is this correct? If so, what is the process. Is it still the same as in the link previously sent by Dr. Jack: https://share.google/LcEwMOmKeLPmZ5N4E ? Many thanks.
  22. Thank you for your replies. Is the earliest I can go for the 90 day report 15 days before the date, and can also go 7 days after? Many thanks.
