  1. Hi all,

I am trying to find somewhere to play....I have been a DJ for 20+ years and and now live here in Bangkok. I thought about putting an ad in the classified section but you're not allowed to add a link to anywhere, which is pretty pointless for me I think.

So I am hoping to get a little interest here...well thats if it allows me to post my small, and now quite old 25 min mix thats on Soundcloud. I have played at many places in the UK, mainly around the south (Southampton, Bournemouth), but have also played at some clubs in London such as The End when it was about and have also been a DJ for some good producers such as 'Affie Yusuf' and 'Trevor Loveys' (Tragic Magic, Switch, Machines Dont Care). So if you know of these, then you can understand I have access to some very good tracks!

Anyway heres the link, hope someone is gonna read this lol

As I said its only a short mix but I think its ok.

You need a workpermit or take the chance you will be deported

Hey, Mr informative.........do you work for the immigration police???????

Why dont you simply consider that I might actually have a permit?!

    Do you!!

I actually already have a job here and am not looking for a job 'DJing'!!

I am just looking for like minded people...and not possible immigration police types like you!! :)

Thanks for the information, you are very kind 5555555

You know drugs and prostitution might get you into trouble too!!!

    Cheers buddy :)

It was just informational dont get your nickers in a twist

  2. The 15th is my birthday!!!!!

It was reported in the newest weekly periodical.

If this breaks any forum rules, sorry, please feel free to pull it Mods.

Maybe the best thing is to:

    -have a party at home

-have a party a day before or after your birthday

It is not likely they are changing the date for Asarnha Bucha Day This full-moon day of the eighth lunar month commemorates the Buddha's first sermon to his first five disciples after attaining Enlightenment more than 2,500 years ago. Evening candlelit processions are staged in all Thai Buddhist temples

  3. All you people who are cheering this are absolute scum, you know that? At least people who use ED visa's are trying to do something to stay here legitimately.

Some of you lot forget that we are essentially all here for similar reasons, it's just that not all of us are lucky enough to have a job or be over a certain age so that we can get the visa we need...

You might laugh now while you have your comfortable retirement visa or whatever it is, but one day they'll clamp down on those as well - then perhaps you'll wish you weren't quite so gleeful about the struggles of the rest of us to stay here. Morons. Shameful

Dredd, you seem to be somewhat of a raging maniac. Others have tried to explain to you how it is in a polite manner, but you seem to be only concerned about your own needs. Well let me tell you how it is. If you cannot find a legal way to stay in Thailand, THEN YOU SHOULDN'T F**KING BE HERE! And whether I'm sympathetic to your plight, or "gleeful about your struggles," it just doesn't matter. Because you SHOULDN'T F**KING BE HERE! If you are a short-term tourist, Thailand wants you here. If you have skills that can qualify you for a work permit, Thailand wants you here. If you are of retirement age and can support yourself, Thailand wants you here. If you want to open a factory and create jobs, Thailand wants you here. If you're married to a Thai, or are pursuing an education, or any other number of legitimate reasons, Thailand wants you here. If after this long lists of eligibility criterion, you STILL can't find a legal way to stay, THEN YOU SHOULDN'T F**KING BE HERE! Wanting to stay in Thailand to be with your girlfriend, or your boyfriend, or your pet ferret, those are not legitimate reasons. Wake up and smell the coffee! Thailand doesn't want you here! And it's their country! You got a problem with that? THEN GO START YOUR OWN F**KING COUNTRY! Then you can let in any lowlife maggot you like, any time, all the time.

    Rant over.

    :D

  4. So now there is a 'crack down' on ED visas. Why? Are any of these people doing anything wrong, harming anyone? No. I they were they would be arrested, fined, fined, and kicked out of the country. So what if they are using a loophole to stay in Thailand? On a list of one to infinity this 'problem' would be close to infinity. I know a lot of guys staying in Thailand. Many are looking after someone else's children—usually a Thai man who left his wife—support a family, support half a village. Support which the Thai government does not do. Just back off and let these people stay here.

They are not using a loophole. They don't meet the requirement of minimum study of 4 hours a week

  5. I used to teach English to Thais who'd been studying English for many many years. If I said"big fish eat little fish" to my students, then I bet 50% of them wouldn't understand what I said.

The crackdown is just another example of how much Thais dislike foreigners and their little personal power tricks they play when they have the upper hand.

It could be your teaching skills ??

  6. The problem is an outdated visa system. People use ED visas as they choose to live here and its the only one they can get to fit. Surely some form of visa which bridges the gap between, retirement, ,marriage and an O visa should be investigated. People who get ED visas, are I'd imagine, normal folk (as opposed to being elusively deviants, pedos and long term sex tourists), who just want to settle down, the visa loophole is the only option, close it by all means, but give people another option and police immigration into Thailand properly.

It is sad to see foreigners turn on foreigners. You rarely see Thais turn on Thais in similar situation. Perhaps we have something to learn from the Thais.

Why use a loophole? Why not learn the language when planning to settle down in Thailand? If someone is not able to express a very simple phrase in Thai language after seven years in the country he is obviously in the wrong place. If you intend to stay long time in Thailand show respect and learn the local language. No <deleted>' excuses. :annoyed:

    :D

  7. Walen is not affected by this or? Do those Skype students need to attend the classrooms now too?

The issue seems to be that the guy was with the guy not being able to speak Thai at a very basic level. Pla yay geen pla lek. So super easy. If you learn online you do actually attend a class, and many students do not learn online because they need visa, this is one of the way we teach. If there is a problem with this kind of visa it will be because people like this.

The moral of the story is learn some Thai, at least at a basic level. It needs to be evident that you go to school and learn. He did not ask him to translate passages from Shakespeare into Thai, did he?

i would think it is gin and not geen

  8. Yeah, I realise what they are cheering about, I just wonder why? Do they derive some kind of sick pleasure from this?

I mean seriously, why should they give a ****? I myself am one of these 'abusers' but I don't see why these people are cheering the fact I may have to leave the country. I am not someone who regularly goes out trolling round bars in Pattaya or Nana or wherever - I stay at home with my gf, and I conrtibute a LOT to Thai societ by paying for her education! And I help her parents. My problem is I'm a freelancer, I work online so I can't get any kind of working visa.

Oh, and by the way. I speak Thai quite well already thank you. I certainly don't need to waste my time at these crappy lessons they have at most of the Thai language schools.. Perhaps some of you guys should try attending a class before you go slating those of us who try to avoid them!

I believe they are cheering a ckrack-down of abuse of the ED-visa system, not a crack-down on ED-visas itself.

So you don't only abuse the visa system, you work without a workpermit too.

  10. I was hoping to get a confirmation from another parent who has 1 nanny taking care of 2 kids, who also does housework.

Nope. In fact, we have considered getting 3 people to help out for our twins plus the housework. Given the way the Thais raise children, it doesn't seem that you get good care unless you have a 1 on 1 arrangement. Many eons ago when I was a baby, my mother used to put me down in the playpen and go do the housework while I had to entertain myself. Thais, when confronted with a playpen, will simply fill it with junk and place the baby on the floor anyway demanding constant supervision to make sure they don't fall, get their fingers stuck in door jams, play with electrical outlets, etc. Feeding can't possibly be done in high chairs, which would allow efficiency. No, they have to chase the children around on the floor, thus leaving one of the twins to engage in mischief while the other tries to avoid eating.

No, you might be able to pull off what you suggest in the West, but here in Thailand the culture demands one baby, one nanny, and no double duty as a maid. They don't do things efficiently enough to handle both jobs.

It must be a miracle that so many Thai children survive their youth. :whistling:

  11. You think your doctor intentionally sabotaged your operation, because you lied on your application which he discovered by monitoring your wireless communication?

Almost. That is how I believe the doctor sees the situation, regardless of whether I in fact lied on the application. There can be a "perception" of lying, which is really all that matters.

How do you think to prove this in court?

  12. You say she does not have the required document and the Consul has clearly said it is required. You can not get married here without the Embassy providing a paper and they set the conditions for issue of said paper. A Consul acts on behalf of the Embassy so there information should be definitive.

Yes, I also explained she does not have them as they do not exist in the case of the house registraion, and the single certificate she was unable to obtain without paying a large sum. She does however have other supporting documents. I appreciate your response but I am really seeking someone who has gone through the process.

You will not find somebody who has gone through the process because she doesn't have the proper papers (being single)

  13. What you suggest has some merit Smokie, kind of guessed you might be a smoker, however I have a number of friends that smoke as I'm sure you have friends that don't, and quite often we go out for a drink together, every smoker I know is considerate and doesn't mind "popping out for a fag", so I don't really see the need to segregate smokers and non-smokers into different establishments.

The majority of smokers are indeed considerate, and whilst the earlier comment of something like "I will pop down there tonight and light up" was probably said in jest, it is indicitive of the very small percentage of smokers who have a selfish attitude.

Owners of such establishments are caught between a rock and a hard place, smokers who cannot even be bothered to go outside for a smoke will complain they are being picked on, whilst non-smokers will want to drink in a smoke free environment and have an expectation that the law will be respected. These bars are in business to make a profit, the General Manager of the Landmark once told me that his decision to ignore the law was a commercial decision, even though they are liable for a fine of 20,000 Baht for every smoker caught, however The Londoner, who has complied with the law from day 1, is normally pretty busy - in fact I saw the manager of The Huntsman in the Londoner recently checking it out.

As I have said before I think the anti smoking regulations have probably gone to far, though I suspect they may get tougher, I have often seen smokers outside pubs in the UK, and have thought that if the smoking didn't kill them then the hypothermia might.

Or the fumes comming from cars

  14. this happened to me when looking for a room for a Thai person:

Advertisement outside rooms for 4500 a month

I go inside to check the room and woman says only for Thai people. I answer no problem the room is for a Thai.

Then the price changed to 10000 because i was paying. I told her to no thanks.

  15. More confusion:

    on Jan 5

I am still legally married to a well educated, lovely Thai woman, but we are now 100% friends only. She doesnt mind staying married to help with my visa.

    I trust her 1000%

  16. if you can work and save the cash, your chance of success in this new business goes through the roof!!!!! the hardest part about new businesses is resisting the urge to take money out in the beginning. this often kills the business. if you can go in with the place paid for, and a little set aside for your own needs- it means that the money that it generates can be reinvested in the business to give it a maximum chance for success. no matter where you get the startup capital- a bank or a private investor- you will need a solid business plan so that is the first step.

yeah I understan what u are saying, i just dont want to spend so much time in the uk doing a job i dont like, once we have a place i can come back for a few weeks to bump it up if we need to, i just want to know if it is easy or not to get a loan, but thanks for ur advice :)

You missed the most important part of his advice.

If you don't have a decent business plan you won't get a loan because you don't have a house or land to cover the loan if the business won't work.

What is he buying with the money - fresh air ?

    Almost.

2.5 mil gives you just a lease; not any property
