  1. Pretty defamatory post, to be honest. No facts to back it up, just a knee-jerk assumption asserting his own twisted opinion.
  2. Ah poor 'ickums. Suck it up - you seem about as thin skinned as the average Thais. And I haven't seen anything on this thread about the OP having problems with drinking or getting along with people. You seem to be like so many others posters on here - either incapable of reading and comprehending, making things up in what passes for your brain in a desperate attempt to justify yourself, or just plain trolling. I suggest you find a nice simple hobby, preferably not too taxing and not on the internet.
  3. Thai's have the thinnest skin of anyone I have ever met. They can't handle even the mildest criticism and their pathetically childish defamation laws reflect that. Dealing with most Thais is like dealing with 4 year old children.
  4. Oh they are, they are. Just watch a Thai TV series to see how shallow they can be. They even have to have a joke signalled by having a 'boing' noise added to the soundtrack.
  5. How do you know he was rude? You're just making that up to suit your own personality problems
  6. Is that what you do? Maybe you need to keep a pack of tissues in your pocket.
  7. Defamation. Deformation is when something or someone is deformed.
  8. Wrong. Truth is no defence to defamation in Thailand. Absurd, I know.
  9. I always wait to see what will happen after some back of a cigarette packet announcement by some idiot who can't ever see the consequences of what they are saying. Thailand - land of the consistently inconsistent.
  10. What about residents from a country in which their income is low enough that they fall into the tax exempt band? So does that mean they will also be tax exempt here?
  11. True. I remember that. It was a Prayut brain fart spur of the moment decision, quickly reversed when there was an outcry. There were quite a few of those during his tenure.
  12. I spoke to my wife about this and she said not to worry, Srettha will soon be gone. It seems there are already plots to oust him because he is highly unpopular in the places and with the people that matter. Knowing the lack of forethought and inability to estimate consequences, plus the constant volatility here, I would not be in the slightest bit surprised. The sooner the better, IMHO.
  13. Let's see what happens, they have a habit of making announcements then quietly dropping them when it becomes clear they are shooting themselves in the foot and it suddenly fades away into the ether. Otherwise I will be well and truly fahcked as will many others, probably in the high thousands. Bye bye Thailand, hello Vietnam.
  14. Yeah, you said that already and were wrong both times. Planes aren't made of steel, which is far too heavy. They are made of aluminium and composite plastics, which are far lighter.
  15. Britain doesn't use dollars, they use pounds (£). You didn't know the difference? It would be 10,000 baht which is the standard amount an IO can ask to see although it rarely happens. Maybe he looked a bit scruffy and beg-packerish. And the only way to get 90 days is to apply for a 60 day single entry tourist visa (SETV) before you leave your home country and then extend it for a further 30 days for 1,900 baht whilst here. If someone arrives on a visa exemption which lasts 30 days and then extends it, they only get a maximum of 60 days. Jeez, the lack of knowledge by people who apparently live here is astonishing.
  16. Aha, that's more like it! One problem is that my visa expires on the 18th July each year but my passport expires in April 2025 so I'd only get a 9 month extension on my visa in July 2024. What to do? I think it's going to be better to apply for a new passport in about January next year, get the visa transferred when the p/port comes back and so I have a 'clean' passport when next July comes. Thoughts, anyone?
  17. Strange, I'm being told exactly the opposite on Faceache ... So you're saying that I need to renew my passport by 22nd July 2024, as I was trying to clarify above?
  18. Further to all the above, somewhat drifted off-topic and not really up to date, that since the new UK passports started being issued, the UK was being much stricter on the length of time they could be issued ie. a 10 year passport was for 10 years. Looking at my photo attached, I renewed my still current red EU British passport on 23rd July 2014. As there were a good few months left on the previous passport, the clerk added them to this current one, but I now wonder if they won't count any longer and this red one will end on 22 July 2024 and not 23 April 2025 as is on the current passport. Am I correct in thinking this? If so, when would be the best time to renew my passport for a new dark blue/black UK passport? Some time around December this year or January next year? And what is the current processing time for a new UK passport? I have been reading 11 weeks or thereabouts.
  19. I think it's OK to have a nominee do it for you - wife etc. I think there's a section on the application form where you name the nominee who does it on your behalf, but personally, I'd do it myself. I know it's not always easy to go yourself if you live in Nakhon Nowhere so you may have little choice unless you want a few days travelling and staying in a cheap hotel while you wait - AND then have a 15 hour trip back home.
  20. I know, but I felt Thai Visa Express were very expensive at the time I enquired, which was some years ago. Having said that, recently Thai Visa Center have whacked their prices up substantially. I guess it's just a case of shopping around agencies now.
