  1. Hi everyone, next week I am going to Glasgow with my thai wife to get her new settlment visa, I have filled the forms in and go the correct documentation ready but I just want to make sure I have obtained the right application form. The form I have filled out is FLR(M), is this the correct form?

The visa she got to come to England with, was a finacee visa and she has been her for 5 months and we have got married last month.

    Thanks everyone.

  2. hi scouse, u r number 1!!

Currently I am student and living with my parents, when we applied for the fiancee visa they had to send a letter away confirming they r going to take care of finacee (wife now) and send there mortgage details off to help with the application for the visa, do I need to take these again when I apply for the settlement visa?

As for her current passport, they will staple the new settlement visa inside it, wont they? but when after we have been on holiday to thailand at chrismas and return to england she is going apply to get a new passport with my surname , when she get this new passport will her settlement visa be transfered into it, and will this encounter any problems that she has taken up my surname?

Sorry scouse for all the questions.

Thanks again for all your time.

  3. Thanks Scouse for all your help, I must say and I spea for alot of people that u r a great deal of help! thanks mate.

Next week I go to get my wife's settlement visa, we have all the forms, passport pics and everything sorted, but when she gets this new visa will it be stapled into her passport because her passport currently has her surname on, but seeing as we r married now wont she have to take up my surname?

Also we have flights booked for chrsitmas to thailand under her current surname so I dont want the home office to issue her a new passport with my surname in because we will loose the flight tickets because the names are non-refundable.

    thanks again,

  4. Hi everyone,

5 months ago my thai g/f was granted a finacee visa and she came to stay with me in England, so last week we got married and have to go to either Glasgow,Liverpool,Birmingham or Croydon to apply for her settlement visa in a few weeks because that is the only time we could get an appointment. (We r going in person because her finacee visa finishes at the start of Decmeber and if we sent the forms off in the post we might not get a reply in time to go back to thailand for christmas)

My question is I would like to visit Amsterdam for my mothers birthday with my wife, is there any chance she would be able to go without this new visa in her passport?

Also when my wife has this new settlement visa in her passport where can we go in the world?

Thanks everyone for there time on this matter. :o

  5. Hi Scouse, great information mate, The reason why I am thinking of going down in person is because me and my wife to be have already booked our tickets to Thailand on the 20th December. So before this date she would need to have her visa extended, is this correct?

She aldready has a ticket of return off when she first came to England back in June but obviously that is no good anymore because it runs out on the 5th December so I have bought 2 new ones from herslef and me as we will both be returning for a holiday on the 20th December for 3 weeks then returning back to the UK.

    Thanks Scouse :o

  6. Thanks scouse for your information, I have just rang the HO office number and they said if I apply by post it can take upto 12 weeks for the application to go through and as I said her visa finishes in early December so they said it would be best for me to go down to one of there offices in Liverpool, Glasgow or Birmingham to make the application in person which only takes a day and then your visa is granted.

What exactly happens when I go down for this application in person?

    Thanks again.

  7. Hi everyone,

I live in the UK and my thai g/f has been living with me for 3 months on a fiancee visa, in 2 weeks time we r getting married. After we r married what process do we have to go through to obtain another visa?

I have heard that we both have to go down to Liverpool, Glasgow or Birmingham is this correct?

Due the her visa finishing in late November we will not be able to do the process through just sending certain forms off we will have to go down in person.

Also does she have to go through the process again of having to sit through another horrendous interview, being asked question after question about myself?

    Thanks everyone :o

  8. Hi everyone,

My friend brought his thai /f to England on a Fiancee visa, he has decided that he is not ready yet to get married thus she has gone back to thailand and he has stayed in England and he has decided just to go over to see her every other month or so. My question is, is it possible for her to get another visa sometime in the future because she has currently not complied with all the terms of her current fiancee visa (she has'nt got married).

    Thanks everyone.

  9. Hi everyone, hope u r all good,

In a month I am marrying my thai G/F, currently she is staying with me in England on a fiancee visa, her visa ends in December so we have to get married before that. After we have married we will need to apply for a marriage visa, my question is after we have married I know we have to make an appointment at one of the embassy's either in Liverpool, Glasgow or birmingham. It normally takes 3-13 weeks for the forms to be processed if sent away but due to time of my marriage I am going to have go in person with my g.f to one of the above embassy's, all I want to know is what happens when we go to get our marriage visa, does she have to go through the ordeal of another interview?

    Thanks people.

  10. Hi everyone,

In a few months I will be marrying my thai g/f who has been with me in the Uk for the last 3 months, we have been together for over a year and a half now and we love each other very dearly. I applied for a finacee visa and she was granted it, my question is when we get married what things change, i.e can we go away on holiday somewhere other that thailand? can she work? etc etc.

    Thanks again people, take care

  11. Hi everyone,

Yesterday my thai g/f was given her fiancee visa so she can come and stay with me in the Uk, I am ecstatic to say the least. It has been 3 months since I have seen her in the flesh, we talk atleast 6 times a day on the phone and she visits the local internet cafe so I we can see each other on the webcam. I am only 23 and my g/f is 27, when she comes to England she will be living with myself and my parents due to me finishing studying for my Masters. My parents are so happy and pleased that she is coming to stay because they know she makes me very happy.

I met her in a beer bar in soi pattayland, and at the time she was still recovering from TB, after we met she left the Bar and started to work in Jomtien in a Polish restaurant because she did'nt want me to worry so much in my head when I was in England. I can honestly say in my heart that she has never cheated on me or done anything bad towards me and I an say that I have never done anything bad against her, we love each other.

    Anyway bye people. :o

  12. hi,

There is no chance u will get a visa in a week, I applied for a fiancee visa for my thai g/f 3 months ago and she has only just had her interview at the embassy last week and has to go back tomorrow to get her visa because they needed some more documents from me to send over. I sent phone bills, money receipts, photos, everything but there is no chance the embassy will make a visa in a week there is just too many people wanting the same thing. I have been with my g/f for a year now.

    :o

  13. Hi everyone,

My girlfriend had her interview today in Bangkok for a fiancee visa to stay with me in England, I was woken up this morning by a tearfully phone call saying that she had not be given her visa, but after talking to her she said the interview went perfectly fine until the end where the 2 ladies interviewing her went outside and discussed things and came back into the room and said that they would'nt be able to issue her visa today, but she has to come back next week with 4 documents they wrote down for her.

Does this mean after she brings the documents to them, they will then issue her visa?

Thanks, any information would be greatly appreciated because my head is up in the air at the minute.
