I will gladly 'self-isolate' and have zero interest in either Phuket or other tourist destinations and will happily keep a huge distance from whoever necessary, including all other Farang. That being the case, the so-called "Sandbox" racket should be terminated and the compulsary Covid Insurance premiums should be reduced for vaccinated arrivals. Insurance premiums are always calculated based on risk. Well, forcing us into the "Sandbox" thing is a huge put off to me, and a waste of money.. I have zero interest in Phuket. I just need to return to my town in Nakhon Sawan province, where I can self isolate for two weeks. I have arranged for secure, private transport from the airport to my door, and friends will do my shopping for me. Where is the harm in that? ...except that the boss and his cronies won't make any money on that.

I am stranded in the Philippines where we as foreigners have equal status on this issue. There was no adminastrative bull**** looking to see if I counted as a human being, or whatever. I registered with my age and residence, so I could be directed to the appropriate vaccination center. I even nominated my prefered date. I received the reply within 24 hours and was scheduled for the first shot (AstraZeneca) within the week. The health checks prior to and after were impressive. It is a good feeling to be in a country whose government shows respect for us. Wonderful, in fact. ????

Every tourist and/or retiree contributes to the Thai economy. But being forced to spend in Phuket before going elsewhere is nothing short of extortion. I rent a premises in Nakhon Sawan province and the community where that is, needs the money every bit as much as the Phuket hotels that paid to be in the so-called "Sandbox". But of course, no one in government gets a kickback if my money is spent in a region that is really suffering.
