Could you highlight the 'Non-O' mentions in your quoted texts for me.

I appear to be too old to find them (probably a senior moment on my part).

After re reading it is seems to be about the 'Non-O'

That was EG approved from Vietnam  with the 90 day leave the country

Maybe they are clamping down on these Visa

    Maybe some else could clarify

94.639% of the time when the website is reported not working the input is being done incorrectly.  Bloomberg Surveys 2020.

    I use the same information

But the website URL was not working

I was talking about the web site not the reporting as per my first post

It seems a little odd that the bank apparently admit the loan was fraudulent, but took every satang she had legitimately in her account anyway. Good luck to her in getting it sorted out. Thai banks are not renowned for speed or openness in resolving such matters.

I dont think they will like the bad publisity

Now it has been circulated in the media

We've always had to produce copies of our bank passbook and I'm presuming that hasn't changed (if it has, please advise).

As to the bank letter which we've always had to produce, are you saying that a second bank letter (covering 6 months of history) is required besides the normal one (which simply identifies the account number, holder, and amount as of the date of the bank letter) or that they're now requiring a single bank letter to include the 6-month information?

Also, if you're able, what is meant by a "six month history" - every transaction for 6 months or perhaps just a balance as of a given day in each of 6 months?

    Would appreciate the clarification.

    I agree

This New Boss is showing who is boss

Is this in the Immigration Act for us to comply

Maybe Bangkok Immigration need to come up and check to see if he is doing the right thing

This situation is insane.  Hubby entered Thailand with an O-A and I came in with an O as his dependent.  Soon, I got my own retirement extension, using the original O visa.  At the time, I was upset that I wasn't given an O-A initially since we submitted a police and medical report for me and a bank account, admittedly a joint account, but well in excess of 1,600,000 baht (in the U.S.), so I thought I should have received my own O-A.  But we made the mistake of including our marriage certificate, so the Thai General Consulate in Chicago figured I was a spouse, not a retiree.

Fast-forward more than a decade and now I'm the one with the golden visa, not him!  I wonder for how long before they start to require one of their sub-standard insurance policies for O visa holders, too.  We do have very good international insurance, but it doesn't meet their requirements for outpatients.  Our credit cards and local bank accounts can take care of a bill of a mere 40,000 baht.

Hubby obtained his current extension last month, just before the insurance rule went into effect.  His plan is if the current state of affairs continues to apply again next October and if they turn him down for not having an appropriate insurance policy, then he'll have a little vacation somewhere overseas for a few weeks without a re-entry permit, obtain an O visa at the Thai Embassy/Consulate at his vacation destination and return to Chiang Mai to extend for a year using the 800,000 baht that has been sitting in his bank account for that purpose.

Or maybe just return visa exempt and let Chiang Mai Immigration do the extra paperwork involved in a visa conversion.

    Keep us posted

As you know they can change the rules anytime

How do you know he's not already a member?

Yes, I agree in most cases, he/she would have greater priorities now but if you bothered to read the other visa threads, some people do bother to post their experience even after their visa has been denied.

Your behavior when faced with the same situation is not reflective of everyone's behaviour.

It's just a request and not compulsion.

    Give it time

I has only been 1 week

    Plus other forum posts

May not be applicable to Chiang Mai  immigration

As I stated the moderators have suspected one Forum post already

We don't want this one suspended

    Just to clarify:

An OA visa can only be obtained in your home country ( or a country where you have permanent residence ).

It is Multi Entry and valid for 1 year, every time you enter Thailand on an OA you receive an “admitted  until “ stamp for one year ( hence if entering shortly before it expires you can obtain almost 2 years)

1st year you are on a ME visa

2nd year you are on permission to stay

At the end of the 2nd year ( and onwards ) you make a 1 year extension , it does not become an O visa .

You are on a retirement extension of your permission to stay based on an OA visa.

You report every 90 days ,continuously in country, to your local IO.

A non imm O visa gives you 90 days stay.

A single entry is valid for 90 days, a multi entry gives you 90 days stay but is valid for 1 year, on a ME you have to leave the country every 90 days.

You have the option to make an extension of your permission to stay based on a non imm O visa ( retirement, marriage, etc ) and then you are on an identical extension as the non imm OA ( except for the insurance malarkey ) and report to immigration every 90 days continuously in country.

I already know all of the above

We will just have to wait till more people have there extensions at Chaing Mai  Immigration approved

Is there a visa called officially a “retirement visa”?  Is it a Non I’m O or AO or OA?

If anyone who has been here quite a few years will know

That if you look at your Visa Extension  Stamp in your passport

    It will say Retirement

Mine was a A O VIsa from overseas

A friend saw his local respected Chian Mai Agent recently

    He asked the question

If you have a A O Visa will the medical insurance be needed

    He stated NO

As after a A O Visa has been extended within the Country it has become a O Visa

I think we all just have to wait till a few Visas have been renewed to hear the full outcome

Plus i see another Immigration forum has been suspended

Hope this one will not be

    Try to keep on track

No need to call out people

    We are all different here

Some live in there own lives

Others have more more knowledge about a lot of things than we do

That is why we rely on Correct up To date Information

    Not just hearsay

We all do not know what will happen from tomorrow at Immigration

We will all have to wait till people actually go to in particular Chiang Mai Immigration

Touchy Einstein here.  There are people who still use flip phones, who do not read TVA or have Facebook.  I just spoke to one yesterday.  I mentioned Health Insurance and he has no idea what has been going on.  He has been here on an initial OA for 10 years.  He is in his late 70’s and his extension date is in December.

    I agree with you

Then there are others that sit on the computer from Dawn to Dusk

    I only reply occasionally

I will wait to see what happens over the next few months

As what Immigration are actually going to enforce
