  1. I bought a Thai made one as a birthday present for my elderly FiL a few years ago and its still going strong.

It was a step through frame design with battery located under the seat above the rear wheel. It can be either pedalled or driven by electrics. There's a on/charge/off switch located just under the saddle.

Apart from the battery being replaced a year after purchase it quite happily transports him around the village and out to the farm and back each day. We suspect the original battery was a dud from the bike sitting in the shop for so long after manufacture. The replacement battery was easily found and cost around B2,000 I think.

I can't see any problem with it transporting 2 adult Thais which it regularly does.

    Where did you buy it

    Is the shop still open

  2. having an absolute nightmare over many months trying to find something similar. good luck!

It all depends on your budget

    Plus location and your requirments

<15k 1 BR+ any location that is convenient (some restaurants nearby and not that far from the city, 15 min max by bike). No luck finding anything reasonable that is not a 30 meter condo for 12k.

Have you tried Chiang Mai Properties

Condos for Rent in Chiang Mai - 10000 To 15000 THB /month

    http://chiangmaiproperties.co.th/EN/Condo_Rent_list.aspx?min=0&max=10000

  4. I solved my DTAC problems by switching to AIS. DTAC was uncooperative about transferring my number, too.

So i can transfer my DTAC No to AIS

    Without too much Pronlems??

  5. Beetlejuice, good morning! I'm up early doing final preparation for today's seminar on "Lessons Learned at the End of Life" http://www.lannacarenet.org/

I had wondered how long it would be before you starting casting doubts and throwing stones like you often do every time Lanna Care Net is brought up on Thai Visa. And I'll repeat what I normally say -- come to a meeting, ask your questions and find out for yourself.

And today you have an extra special chance to just blend into the audience and hear our stories because today Carl of Cancer Connect - Chiang Mai and I are presenting a three hour seminar on "Lessons Learned at the End of Life" -- steps you can take now to prepare for a medical crisis and end of life in Chiang Mai. It is at River Market Restaurant, from 9 am to 12.00 noon. Yes, we're asking for a 100 baht donation, so you'll have to look over the fruit, coffee, tea and handouts we give you to see if we're gouging you with that request!

Beetlejuice, since you never come forward to ask questions of us in person, this will be a great chance to sit in the audience (there's still some open seats) and just observe and actually learn more about what we do. I know you're an old Chiang Mai hand with deep connections into the local population, but you might even learn something of value for yourself. Heck, perhaps you might even be inspired to join us in helping your fellow expats.

    I attended the session

    It was very infomative

    Good handouts

A must for all Expats to know where to go to for help

Plus we all have to make decissions

This session advises What You Have To Do

    I am glad i went

A very important topic, the sort of thing that would be very useful on video.

What a 3 hour session on Video

    With Question and Answers

    I dont think so

Every person has there own set of guidelines that they want to have done when they get Older

  7. Thanks for the leads. From what I've seen so far, I'm surprised that Bangkok is better value, and easier to find monthly Serviced Apartments than Chiang Mai. (Right now, I'm renting 10,000B, in Sathorn, 46 sqm studio - building has gym and swimming pool). Though admittedly, the decor is a bit old.

You can not compare Bangkok a large city to Chiang Mai

There are places around just have to look

    Like we all did

Internet research as well as asking here

  8. It was a Local company Manos in Australia who imported the berries from China

They also buy from other countries

It was the Frozen ones here

So i guess beware in Thailand fresh ones also

Our local fresh berries industry hope to sell more fresh berries

Always been a problem with anything imported to OZ

Little checking versus the full checking of local berries

No fair on the local producers

  9. A friend has a Ford Feista only 2 years old

    It was shuddering when driving

Went to Ford dealer Told has to have a seal replaced

Under warranty as part was faulty Maybe made in Turkey

The service lady say fix under warranty

Had a friend go to pick it up after repair under warranty

    Was told 800 baht

Friend had to go to see then then told service manger

    Part fixed under warranty

He gave in and gave her the car with no payment

    Typical of any service manager

Try to get you to pay Under Warranty

    This is Thai Style
